00:00With the sun gotta get the job done, oh Theodore and Emily
00:04Load up Hank and George and the Harbormaster too
00:16Oh, hello. I've decided that tonight, I will have a sleepover in my office.
00:21I've got cookies and hot cocoa for a midnight snack.
00:24And I can read my maps.
00:28I can look at these maps and remember all the wonderful places that I've sailed to.
00:32And I can look at the stars through my binoculars.
00:37Beautiful.
00:39Oh, boy. Oh, this is very special.
00:42I like to do this every night.
00:45Oh, and there are the tugboats. They're getting ready to go to sleep.
00:48Oh, there's Hank.
00:50You know, Hank had a little adventure one night.
00:53Have I ever told you that story?
00:55Early one morning, all the tugboats were asleep.
00:58All the tugboats, that is, but one.
01:01Hank was up.
01:03It was time for his special job for the week.
01:05Each morning, as soon as the sun woke up,
01:07Hank collected old bumpers from around the harbor and took them to Shediac, the shipyard shed.
01:11Morning, Hank, called Shediac as soon as he saw the tug.
01:15Shediac looked forward to seeing Hank just as much as Hank looked forward to seeing him.
01:19Good morning, smiled Hank. Plenty of old bumpers today.
01:23I have plenty of new ones for you, said Shediac.
01:26You see, Hank brought Shediac all the old worn-out bumpers from the tugs in the docks.
01:30And Shediac gave Hank the new ones in their place.
01:33It wasn't the biggest job in the big harbor.
01:35But to Hank, it was very important.
01:37We'd better get started, said Hank, moving into position to unload his bumpers.
01:41Aye, aye, Hank, said Shediac.
01:43Hank smiled. It was funny.
01:45But he always felt just a little bit bigger whenever he supplied the ship shed.
01:53Hank was coming home from work later that day.
01:55Theodore looked like he was leaving the harbor.
01:57Where are you going, Theodore, called Hank.
02:00I'm going to see Owen, replied Theodore.
02:02He explained that his job that week was checking the anchor cable of Owen, the giant oil rig.
02:06Owen was working outside the harbor.
02:09Boy, that must be fun, said Hank.
02:12Theodore knew that Hank had never been out of the ocean before.
02:15He had an idea.
02:17Well, maybe you could come with me, he said.
02:20I think I could, said Hank.
02:22Well, we could ask the dispatcher, smiled Theodore.
02:25Do you think we could ask him right now?
02:34Well, the dispatcher listened carefully to Theodore's idea.
02:37Then he turned to Hank.
02:39I think it would be fine, Hank, he began.
02:43Theodore has a job to do, so try not to get in the way.
02:46Oh, no, sir, said Hank.
02:49It will be fine.
02:51Hank tried to look as serious as possible as he set off from the dock.
02:54Oh, and Hank, called the dispatcher.
02:56Yes, sir, said Hank.
02:58Have fun, said the dispatcher with a big smile on his voice.
03:02Yes, sir, tooted Hank.
03:06The lights of the big harbor were just coming on as Hank set off with Theodore to visit Owen.
03:11It was his first time out on the ocean.
03:13He was already having fun.
03:15Soon, the two tugs were floating into the wide-open ocean waters.
03:22It's dark out here, Hank said softly.
03:25Look up there, Hank, said Theodore.
03:28Hank looked up into the sky.
03:32He breathed.
03:34It's the most beautiful sight I've ever seen.
03:38Far from the lights of the harbor, millions of stars shone down on the tugs with a smile.
03:44The tugboats turned off their engines and just drifted for a moment.
03:52It's like we're the only boats in the whole world, said Hank.
03:55It's so quiet, Theodore whispered.
03:58Just then, giant lights blazed on all around them.
04:02Just what I love about it, too, a big voice roared.
04:05So nice and peaceful.
04:07Sure enough, the two tugboats took off.
04:10So nice and peaceful.
04:12Sure enough, it was Owen.
04:15Hank and Theodore grinned.
04:17It wasn't peaceful anywhere Owen was.
04:20Isn't this a Jim Dandy evening?
04:22Yes, sirree, Bob, Owen blared on.
04:25You see, Owen is a very noisy oil rig.
04:29Well, lookie here, Owen hollered.
04:32If it isn't Hank.
04:34Hi, Owen, Hank called up.
04:36This calls for a special story, shouted Owen.
04:40A big rig began to tell the tugs all about the time a giant sea cabbage
04:44got sucked right up in his drill and gave him cauliflower ears.
04:48Owen never told me this story before.
04:51Hank felt special being out on the ocean with big Owen and Theodore.
04:55It was just like being an ocean tug.
04:58Everyone hush, Owen suddenly thundered.
05:04Northumberland's coming.
05:06Sure enough, Northumberland's submarine was cruising by,
05:09about to begin his nightly underwater ocean patrol.
05:12Northumberland kinda likes it quiet.
05:14Owen bellowed in a voice so loud it rattled Hank's anchor.
05:18Northumberland, Owen roared on.
05:20We've a special guest tonight, Hank's here.
05:23Hank looked around.
05:25Northumberland disappeared.
05:27Then, just as suddenly, the sub popped up behind him,
05:31just as if Northumberland was playing a game.
05:35He dived again.
05:42Hank tried to guess where the sub would pop up next.
05:45Over here, Hank, smiled Theodore.
05:47No, over here, shouted Owen.
05:51Splash!
05:52Northumberland bobbed up like a great big bar of soap in the water.
05:56Hank laughed out loud.
05:58Hank?
05:59The voice called out in the dark.
06:01What are you doing out here?
06:03It was Constance, the Coast Guard ship.
06:05The dispatcher said I could come,
06:07said Hank a little nervous.
06:09He's fine, bellowed Owen.
06:11A little loud, though.
06:14Everyone, please turn off your lights,
06:16continued Constance.
06:23Hank, you come with me.
06:27Hank followed along behind Constance.
06:30His engine was beating so loudly,
06:32he was sure they could hear him all the way back to the Big Harbor,
06:35while he hoped he hadn't done something wrong.
06:38Constance turned on her powerful Coast Guard searchlight.
06:42It was aimed up at the sky.
06:44Do you see those stars there,
06:46that look like a big soup spoon?
06:50Uh-huh, replied Hank.
06:53They call those the Big Dipper, Constance continued.
06:56If you ever get lost out here,
06:58just follow the spoon home.
07:00Wow, said Hank, still staring at the sky.
07:09Time to get to work, boomed Owen.
07:16You better move back, Hank, called Theodore.
07:19Hank moved away, and Theodore began checking
07:21and moving Owen's enormous anchor cables.
07:24Hank's smile felt like it was frozen on his face,
07:27all the way home.
07:29Can we visit Owen again tomorrow night, Theodore?
07:31He said.
07:32Baby!
07:33Theodore smiled sleepily.
07:35Hank couldn't wait.
07:40Bright and early the next morning,
07:42all the tugs were ready to begin the new day.
07:44All the tugs, that is, except one.
07:46Hank was so excited about visiting Owen again,
07:48that he decided to go to the Big Harbor.
07:50Hank slept in.
07:56And by the time he finally woke up,
07:58it was too late to collect all the bumpers for Shediac.
08:01I'll bring you those bumpers tomorrow,
08:04called Theodore.
08:05Or maybe the day after.
08:07I'll be here, Hank, Shediac called back.
08:10He missed Hank's visit, and to tell you the truth,
08:12he didn't know what to do.
08:14He didn't know what to do.
08:16He didn't know what to do.
08:19He missed Hank's visit, and to tell you the truth,
08:21Hank missed visiting Shediac.
08:23But right now, all Hank could really think about
08:25was visiting Owen again.
08:27He couldn't wait for it to be dark.
08:31That evening, Hank got permission
08:33to visit Owen with Theodore again,
08:35and the two tugs set off out of the harbor.
08:37Do you think Northumberland will be there?
08:39said Hank.
08:40Probably, smiled Theodore.
08:42And maybe Constance can show me that
08:44big flipper again!
08:46Hank went over, already looking forward
08:48to seeing what he's going to have with everybody.
08:52Owen! Owen! Hank called.
08:54I'm back again!
08:55Good for you, Hank, hollered Owen.
08:57What story are you going to tell?
08:59said Hank.
09:00He settled in for a real rip-roar.
09:02Oh, no stories tonight, replied Owen.
09:04Heaps of work to do!
09:06Theodore moved into position to begin moving
09:08one of Owen's giant anchor cables.
09:10Try and stay out of the way, Hank, he called.
09:12Hank backed up, right away.
09:14Terrible, Hank.
09:16Northumberland!
09:17Hank had almost backed into the sub.
09:19He surprised me, smiled Hank,
09:21thinking Northumberland was playing his diving game with him again.
09:23Sure enough, the submarine disappeared under the water.
09:26Where are you, Northumberland?
09:28giggled Hank.
09:29Northumberland!
09:30said Hank, after a moment.
09:32Northumberland!
09:35He must have gone, said Hank, puzzled.
09:40Constance! he cried.
09:41I was waiting for you!
09:43Hank was very happy to see the Coast Guard.
09:45Everyone, turn off your lights, he shouted,
09:47so we can see the sky.
09:49Sorry, not now, Hank, said Constance, as she promised last.
09:52I'm very busy tonight.
09:56Stay back there, little fella!
09:58Owen called down to Hank.
09:59These big cables can be dangerous!
10:01Hank watched everyone, busy at work.
10:07Suddenly, he did feel like a little fella.
10:10A little fella who didn't really belong out there.
10:15Hank was quiet as he floated back home to the Big Harbor with Theodore.
10:19Theodore, he said at last.
10:21Yes, Hank, said Theodore.
10:23The first time we went to visit Owen, that was really special, wasn't it?
10:26Oh, it sure was, smiled Theodore.
10:29But tonight, Hank went on,
10:31no one really had time to do special things with me.
10:34Theodore was thoughtful for a moment.
10:36I guess we all had other things we had to do.
10:41And I really didn't, said Hank sadly.
10:44I was just visiting, and everyone else had jobs to do.
10:48Hank caught sight of Shediac, the shipyard shed.
10:53Suddenly, Hank smiled.
10:55There was one job he had to do, an important job.
10:58Theodore, he said.
11:00Yes, Hank.
11:01Would you mind if tomorrow I didn't go with you to visit Owen?
11:04I have some other things I really need to do.
11:07I think that would be fine, Hank, smiled Theodore.
11:15Early the next morning, all the tugboats were asleep.
11:18All the tugboats, that is, but one.
11:20Hank was up.
11:22Good morning, Shediac, Hank called to the shipyard shed.
11:25Morning, Hank, Shediac called back.
11:27I was hoping you'd come today.
11:30I've been visiting Owen and staying up late, Hank explained.
11:33Oh, that must be very special, said Shediac.
11:36It is, said Hank, once in a while,
11:38but visiting you is special all the time.
11:41Now let's get your bumpers unloaded.
11:43Aye, aye, Hank, said Shediac.
11:45Hank smiled.
11:46It was funny, but he always felt just a little bit bigger
11:51whenever he supplied the shipyard shed.
11:57You know, I've been thinking.
11:59If I stepped in my office every night,
12:01it probably wouldn't seem so special.
12:03Well, just like if Hank visited Owen every night.
12:06But it's special now, and I'm going to enjoy it.
12:10I've got my cookies and my cocoa,
12:13and I've got my maps and my binoculars.
12:17I'm all set for some fun now.
12:20Thanks for visiting us here in the Big Harbor,
12:22and we'll see you all again next time.
12:24Oh, now, what should I do first?
12:26Oh, boy.
12:27Oh, I'm really going to enjoy this.
12:29I can hardly wait.
12:41Oh, Theodore
12:44Likes to do the things that friendly couples do
12:50Pushing and pulling in the great big harbor
12:52In the great big world, there's so much fun
12:54So many brand new things to discover
12:56Waking with the sun, gotta get the job done
12:59Oh, Theodore and Emily
13:01Oh, to Hank and George and the harbor master, too
