00:00I am Dr. Reema Dada. I am a professor at AIMS New Delhi and I am in charge of AIMS' media cell.
00:09The rain that happened yesterday was very unprecedented and it was a very heavy downpour.
00:14You saw that there was heavy water logging in the whole of Delhi.
00:19In the AIMS area, we saw that there was water in many centres and blocks.
00:25Due to this, we had to stop the OT.
00:29In the trauma centre, there was water logging in the basement.
00:33Due to this, we took precautionary measures and stopped the OT.
00:40But I want to tell you that the life-threatening surgeries were done.
00:46The patients who had life-threatening issues or trauma,
00:50their surgeries were done immediately and they were attended.
00:55Yesterday, four such surgeries were done in the trauma centre.
01:01Then our director and our additional director took rounds at 6 in the morning.
01:06When it was seen that there was water in the lifts of our neuro-centre,
01:12it was cleared by 6 in the morning.
01:15Immediately, our sanitary workers were called and water was taken out and the area was cleared.
01:21But again, our big generators and electrical installations are in the basement.
01:27Due to this, there was water in them.
01:29The biggest problem was that the power supply from the NDMC was stopped.
01:34The power did not come from the NDMC till 4 o'clock.
01:37Due to this, we had to stop our OT.
01:40As soon as the power came, we fumigated the OT at 4 o'clock.
01:44At 6 o'clock, the OT of our neurosurgery had started.
01:48The patients who needed immediate surgery, their surgeries were done overnight.
01:54Now, the OT is fully functional.
01:57Now, the OT has started.
01:59Yes, the OT is fully functional.
02:01The rounds of the trauma centre are going on.
02:03Our electrical engineers and ACs are doing the rounds.
02:06We have to make sure that there is no short-circuiting due to moisture or any other issue.
02:13As soon as they give us the green signal, we will start the OT.
02:17But I would like to tell you again that the people who had life-threatening issues or injuries,
02:22yesterday, 4 people who had life-threatening issues,
02:25their surgeries were done in the trauma centre.
02:28Has the tunnel been repaired?
02:31Yes, there is a tunnel in AIMS which connects the main building of AIMS to the trauma centre.
02:36That tunnel was filled with water.
02:38But by evening, we had cleared it.
02:40Now, that tunnel is fully functional.
02:42In Basement 3, there is still a lot of water.
02:45About 100 bikes are drowning in the water.
02:48Yes, we are clearing it now.
02:51There are pumps installed.
02:52We will clean it.
02:55Is it possible to say that it has rained like this after many years?
03:04No, we are seeing that there have been a lot of changes in the weather.
03:09After so much heatwave, yesterday's rain was very unprecedented and it was very heavy.
03:15But we will now see where some flaws are left.
03:19So that when it rains, it doesn't happen again.
03:22We will take all the steps in this.
03:25The operation theatres that were closed yesterday, have they been running again?
03:29Yes, the operation theatres of the CN Centre have been closed.
03:33The surgeries of the RP Centre also started yesterday from 12 o'clock.
03:38Now, they are fully functional.
03:40In the trauma centres, I think they will start all the operations in an hour and a half.
