00:00about something that happened just a few weeks ago as part of the selection.
00:05We have to fill in a form which sets out what our home address is and we had a debate within
00:12our team about what address I should put on my form. I live four days a week with my brother
00:17in Borden, my office has been in Farnham since 2020, I lecture in Hazelmere but my main home
00:25where my GP is registered and where my son goes to school is in Kingston-upon-Thames.
00:30So we had this debate where you're spending most of the week actually here in the constituency
00:36and maybe we should put our address down as being here because then people will think that I'm local
00:42and it would look really good in terms of my candidacy. But my election agent Andrew and I,
00:47we had a big debate about it, we discussed it with the party and even though there are
00:52opportunities for me to actually put down my Borden address with my brother as my home address
00:57I didn't. I put my address as being Kingston-upon-Thames even though I'm the only one
01:02here actually that looks like I'm not local and it's important to do that, it was important to do
01:09that because you have to tell the truth and you have to have integrity.
01:21From the outside it looks bad on me as me not being the local candidate that was the right
01:27thing to do. The truth is that I probably have a stronger connection with the constituency over
01:31a longer period of time than anybody. Thank you very much. Sorry the last sentence but
01:36it's important to tell the truth and it's important
01:39to have integrity and that's exactly why I put the Kingston-upon-Thames address.
