Falling tree kills cop in Lahad Datu

A General Operations Force (GOF) personnel was killed after a tree fell onto the police van he was driving in Sabah’s east coast Lahad Datu district.  The incident occurred at Jalan Gelugor, near Felda Sahabat 16, at about 2.30pm on Friday (June 21). 00:17Corporal Zeno Gungo, who was attached to the 17th GOF Battalion in Lahad Datu, was confirmed

00:24to have died at the scene due to severe injuries.

00:27The victim once served as a Special Action Unit personnel and was also involved in the

00:32operation against the foreign incursion in Lahad Datu 11 years ago in 2013.

00:40Lahad Datu Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Zulbaharin Ismail said a tree on the right

00:46side of the road suddenly fell on the vehicle while driving through the location.

00:51The case is being probed under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
