00:00Hello, I'm Live Reporter Matthew Calderbank, here with the Lancashire Post, on Watling
00:05Street Road in Fullwood, not far from Fullwood Barracks, where two grenade-like devices were
00:12discovered at a property on this road on Tuesday afternoon, around 12.25pm. Residents were
00:20evacuated until 6.15pm, whilst the bomb squad were called, and one device was safely exploded
00:27at the property, and another was taken to another location, where it was safely detonated.
00:32Now the police have remained quite tight-lipped around this incident so far, and they've said
00:37there's no larger threat to the public, so it's not terror-related. Counter-terrorism
00:43police aren't involved with this case at this stage. They've not gone as far to say it's
00:50been a targeted incident as yet, so we don't know the motive behind this, but the police
00:55do say they're working to establish when the devices were put there, and why they were
00:59put there, if there is a motive behind this, and whether this was a vendetta of some sort.
01:07But no arrests have been made at this stage, no suspects have been identified. Now I've
01:12spoken to a few residents on this street who say that they're quite concerned about what's
01:16happened, how the explosives, the grenades, were found very close to the footpath, it's
01:26a pavement where plenty of pedestrians walk past, plenty of bus stops around here, it's
01:30a busy, busy road. I spoke to one mother earlier who said she was concerned that a child, if
01:37a little girl was playing in the street, she could possibly come across more of these devices
01:41because we don't know the motive behind them, whether they're going to find more of these
01:45without causing any further concern. So there's an anxiety around the area, the police need
01:55to reveal more details about this, and more reassurance patrols. I've not seen many police
02:00in the hours so that I've been in the area this afternoon, but police do say that patrols
02:06have been set up and detectives are working around the clock to establish what's behind
02:12this grenade incident. So we're going to try and find some more information out for you
02:18with our contacts at Lancashire Police today and over the weekend, and hopefully we'll
02:23have some more updates for you either Saturday afternoon or possibly Monday morning. Thank you.
