When I first saw the poster that was advertising Garth Jennings’ 2007 movie Son of Rambow I was 100% sure that this was a film I definitely didn’t want to see, because it looked like just another kids movie that was trying to be funnny but really wasn’t, and I’ve already seen too many of those. The trailer then made me second guess, and when I finally saw the actual film I completely changed my mind. Son of Rambow is probably one of the best and funniest kids movies I have seen in recent years. It’s witty, it’s charming, and it makes me want to be a boy in the 1980s again. Both Bill Milner and Will Poulter give excellent performances. Poulter will play Eustace Clarence Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader to be released in 2010, but I truly hope we’ll see more of him before that.
