Sonam Bajwa opens up on playing Non-glam role in ‘Kudi Haryane Val Di’

Actress Sonam Bajwa had an exclusive conversation with IANS, wherein she talked about showing her film to King Khan Shah Rukh Khan. She also talked about playing a non-glamorous role in the film. Sonam told IANS: "I am very proud that the girls of our country look like this. If I talk about the outfit-- suit is worn in Punjab and in Haryana too. I have done a lot of films where I have essayed a de-glamorised look, and such characters have their own beauty. I love wearing suits, I love looking like that. So I really enjoy doing such characters, because your focus from your look, hairstyle, makeup gets removed. I am very proud that I have been given such characters." 00:40then suits are worn in Punjab and in Haryana as well.

00:50We took inspiration from a girl who actually lives in Haryana.

00:54This is how she dresses up.

00:57And we just tried to take that from her.

01:00And I have done a lot of films where there is a de-glamorized role.

01:05And such characters have their own beauty.

01:09And I love wearing suits. I love looking like that.

01:13So, I enjoy it a lot.

01:15In fact, if you ask me, I enjoy doing such characters more.

01:19Because your focus that my hair is fine, my clothes are fine,

01:23I am looking thin, I am fat, all that goes away.

01:26It doesn't stay in your mind.

01:28And I enjoy doing such characters.

01:30I am very proud that I am given such characters.

01:37So, I have absolutely no inhibition, no thought that

01:41I think the girls who wear suits,

01:44they have their own beauty and they look very beautiful.

01:47So, I enjoy wearing and doing such characters.

01:52And the nervousness of the language is a different thing.

01:56That you are going to do a new language.

01:58And you have a fear or nervousness or pressure that

02:02I will be able to do this well or I have to do it.

02:06But beyond that, no inhibitions at all.

02:09I was very happy and very grateful in fact for the opportunity

02:13that I got a chance to play the character of a Haryanvi girl.
