00:00 So many of us are deeply upset at the tragic loss at a far too early age of Dr. Michael Mosley.
00:10 He was simply brilliant, unique. He taught us huge amounts about our bodies, about the wider world,
00:20 and he could communicate with great empathy in a way that no one else has managed.
00:27 So he will be so sadly missed by those of us who enjoyed watching and listening to him.
00:34 Of course, the family he leaves behind, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley and her children,
00:41 as well as his friends and colleagues, are feeling so bereft.
00:47 And naturally, people will be looking at the circumstances in which he lost his life.
00:54 All I can say is that he was in a wonderful part of the world, the eastern Mediterranean.
01:00 It was a beautiful day. He knew, because he was a wise man, that to look back involved a risk,
01:09 but a small one, that he took it. And I absolutely can see how he would make that decision.
01:19 Very, very sadly, the boundary between joy, exploration and tragedy can be very, very thin.
01:30 And, well, it was one of those terrible accidents that we will all look back on and think,
01:38 "What if? What could we have done?" And I think all we can learn is that we have to respect his work,
01:47 to return to it and to study it more closely, and of course, keep his family and friends in our thoughts.
