00:03 They've been talking, Scott, for over a year.
00:08 And as I told you last week, it'll
00:10 get done before training came, probably well before.
00:12 Didn't know it was going to get done quite this quickly.
00:14 But the great thing is both sides had urgency.
00:18 The Vikings finally said, you know what?
00:20 We have to do this deal.
00:21 We've got to do it right by our player.
00:23 Kweisi Adolfo Menso, their GM, made this clear earlier
00:27 this year they're going to get this deal done.
00:29 Despite all the rumors about potential trade,
00:31 none of it was true.
00:32 The bottom line is they were going
00:34 to extend this deal one way or the other.
00:35 And I've got to give them credit.
00:36 This is not their typical structure that they do.
00:39 They're guaranteeing $70 million in the first two years.
00:42 The guarantee is really high.
00:44 Justin Jefferson, Scott, is now resetting the wide receiver
00:48 market.
00:49 It's really an incredible deal.
00:51 I've got to give his agents credit.
00:52 And then also from the Vikings standpoint,
00:54 Rob Baczynski, their contract negotiator,
00:56 does a great job, found a way to get this deal done.
00:59 This is not an easy deal.
01:01 But what happens now, this helps the other receivers
01:03 who are unsigned.
01:04 We talked about this last week, and we can update it.
01:07 Now we know it's $35 million is top of the market.
01:10 Beats AJ Brown's deal at $32 million a season,
01:12 by $3 million a year.
01:14 Now if you're a guy like CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys who
01:17 unfortunately continue to wait, they
01:19 continue to wait to get deals done,
01:21 it costs them more and more and more.
01:23 You can go back 30 years, and the Emmett Smith deal
01:26 where they didn't get the deal done,
01:27 they had to back up the Brinks truck to get that deal done.
01:30 They've done it time and time again.
01:32 They've waited.
01:33 So the Cowboys, now they know the number.
01:35 If you're CeeDee Lamb, his numbers are similar,
01:37 not quite as good as Jefferson's, but they're similar.
01:40 That deal will become between $33 and $35 million.
01:43 That was the number that a lot of people
01:45 were in the league pegged for Jefferson.
01:47 He got the top, he got $35 million.
01:49 Lamb will try to get closer to $35 million.
01:51 It will be hard.
01:52 And don't forget, the Cowboys want to get
01:54 Micah Parsons' deal done, Scott.
01:56 That's another priority for them.
01:57 They unfortunately are not getting
01:58 Dak Prescott's deal done.
02:00 And obviously, if you're Jamar Chase,
02:02 who's a legit number one receiver, an absolute stud,
02:05 you want to not only get $35 million a year,
02:07 you want to try to beat that.
02:09 And then the other guys we talked about last week,
02:11 Brandon Ioki won't get close to $35 million,
02:13 but $30 million a season is very, very fair.
02:17 And then you've got Tee Higgins,
02:18 who's on that lower tier.
02:19 He's around the Jalen Weidel deal,
02:21 who got $28.25 million per season.
02:23 And the Bengals are not close on that one.
02:25 So these clubs, Scott,
02:27 that continue to wait to get deals done.
02:29 (upbeat music)
02:32 (upbeat music)
