The Acolyte cast hail Amandla Stenberg as an ‘amazing leading woman’

00:00 I really enjoyed Amandla Stenberg's part in the role. I liked her story as Mae and Osha.

00:06 I wondered how did you find working with her in both roles?

00:11 I think Amandla played a good role in the lead role in the production and in the acolyte.

00:31 When I watched her in Stunt Camp, she practiced Osha and Mae's choreography.

00:48 I could feel her determination to do well in all the processes.

02:41 I came into it and she'd been in London for a week prepping.

02:47 I came into it and I saw Amandla grow into and become Mae and Osha.

02:53 It felt like such an honor and such a beautiful thing.

03:01 I think it's unfortunate but also based on the truth.

03:05 There's a lot of people in this industry,

03:07 especially people who have been working for such a long time.

03:10 We had both you and Amandla who have been working at a young age.

03:14 You would expect for someone to have that kind of ease to come in

03:18 and maybe not work as hard,

03:20 maybe not put in the best efforts that they could.

03:22 Amandla is a polar opposite of that.

03:28 I was so honored to walk onto set and have a scene partner

03:33 who was willing to challenge me.

03:35 In a person with that kind of caliber or that career,

03:38 you don't have to.

03:39 You can walk on and not know your lines and throw it away

03:41 and do your thing and go home.

03:43 She was there to work and there to--

03:46 She's at a 100.

03:47 Yeah, and it was really important to her to deliver a performance

03:50 that was rooted and layered and beautiful.

03:56 I really think she succeeded.

03:58 It's a difficult one to play those--

04:00 Yeah, she is such a hard worker.

04:02 I have this clear image of Amandla walking into rehearsals

04:05 with these two huge binders that she'd put together about Mae and Osha

04:10 and me being like, "What is that?"

04:11 She was like, "This is my Mae binder and this is my Osha binder."

04:14 I was like, "I love this."

04:16 She was also such an amazing leading woman.

04:21 She was so supportive to all of us.

04:24 A lot of number ones don't really care about anyone else.

04:29 She was there every time she wasn't on camera.

04:32 She was so dedicated in other people's coverage, which is very rare.

04:37 She was such a dedicated, kind soul as an actor,

04:43 which is really beautiful to watch.
