00:00 Hello there, this is me, Ansh Pandey and you are watching One India English.
00:05 After a marathon Lok Sabha elections which spread over six weeks,
00:10 the second longest general election after 1951 and 1952, it's time for the exit votes.
00:17 In 2019, the BJP roamed home with 303 seats and the Natural Democratic Alliance, NDA, pushed the number to 352.
00:25 The Congress Party secured 52 seats and the UPA Alliance totaled 91.
00:32 The BJP this time had set a target of 370 seats and with the help of its allies, it aimed to go past beyond the mark of 400.
00:53 Election results are to be announced on Tuesday this week.
00:56 However, yesterday evening the exit polls were announced and these exit polls have sent Congress Party and the India Alliance into a dilemma.
01:06 Most of the exit polls have stated that the BJP will be returning to power with a larger and bigger mandate.
01:14 The Saffron Party will be the largest party in the lower house if the exit polls are to be believed
01:20 and furthermore it will also be the second largest party in terms of Lok Sabha seats if we talk about Bengal.
01:29 And so this means PM Narendra Modi and his party, BJP, is widely expected to come back to power for a third straight term.
01:38 Let's delve into the election analysis of these exit polls to understand the aspect.
01:44 The exit polls are projecting a resounding victory for the BJP-led India Alliance with most polls forecasting them to comfortably cross the maturity mark of 272 seats in the Lok Sabha.
01:56 Darshan Ki Baat and Access My India polls indicate that NDA may breach the 390 mark
02:02 while the Republic Bharat Matris predicts the netting between 353 to 368 seats for the NDA.
02:09 In contrast, the opposition India Alliance is projected to secure anywhere between 77 seats according to Access to 167 seats
02:18 whereas the off-polls predict them below the majority threshold anyway.
02:24 This wide gap between NDA and Indy projections suggests that Narendra Modi and the BJP are headed for an unprecedented third consecutive victory at the centre.
02:36 The exit polls also suggest that the BJP-led NDA is going to make significant inroads in the southern states of India including Karnataka and Telangana
02:46 which have traditionally been a stronghold for regional parties and Congress.
02:52 In Karnataka, which was recently won by the Congress party last year which has 28 Lok Sabha seats,
02:58 the polls are now indicating that the BJP is likely going to win a staggering 20 to 22 seats
03:04 while the Congress-led India Alliance is projected to secure only 3 to 5 seats at its best.
03:10 The JDS may also bag 0 to 3 seats which is an alliance in NDA.
03:16 Similarly, in Telangana which was the biggest shocking victory back in 2023 with 17 Lok Sabha constituencies,
03:23 the exit polls are showing a stark and a very fierce fight between NDA and India Alliance
03:30 with both projections going to show approximately 7 to 9 seats for each of them leaving no room for other parties like the BRS.
03:39 These projections indeed highlight the BJP's growing influence in the southern regions and its ability to breach the perceived opposition fortresses too.
03:49 There was a very famous slogan in this election by the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi,
03:54 "BJP will be North Mein Haf and South Mein Saaf"
03:57 but the exit polls have likely sounded alarm bells within the opposition ranks
04:02 who had pinned hopes on unseating the Modi Jagannath through the United Front this election
04:09 and so the opposition is not ready to accept the election poll outcomes.
04:16 They have made these government exit polls.
04:20 They are completely fake, fake and fake.
04:25 India Janbandhan's parties will not get less than 295 seats.
04:34 India Janbandhan's parties will get more than 295 seats.
04:42 However, the actual results will be declared on the counting day on 4th of June
04:47 and that will ultimately determine the final impact and the mandate.
04:50 However, the things as we see it if the exit polls are coming out to be true,
04:55 India Alliance seems to be heading for a free fall.
