The Italian Prime Minister ended the European election campaign on Saturday in the Piazza del Popolo in Rome.

00:00 The upcoming European elections could tip the balance between
00:03 Giorgia Meloni's mainstream foreign policy and domestic far-right agenda.
00:08 In less than two years, the Italian prime minister has become
00:12 one of Europe's most powerful far-right leaders.
00:15 Her foreign policies reassure centrist allies,
00:18 while on domestic issues she remains distinctly right-wing.
00:21 I have not stopped meeting international leaders
00:26 to contribute to the resolution of the crises we are facing.
00:32 And more generally, to a more and more prominent role
00:35 in Italy's international scene.
00:38 Meloni also has a potential political ally
00:41 in the president of the European Commission,
00:43 Ursula von der Leyen,
00:45 who has not ruled out inclusion of Meloni's party
00:48 in a coalition if needed.
00:51 However, at a rally in Spain, von der Leyen admitted
00:54 there was concern in Europe about the rule of law,
00:57 saying Europe will act if put at risk.
01:00 The European elections could be a moment of truth for Meloni,
01:04 where she would be forced to take a clear ideological stand.
