00:10 lead to massive flooding, landslides and greater casualties.

00:14 And as our Rod Lagusa reports, La Niña's expected and extended presence of up to three

00:20 years will only enhance the southwest monsoon and supercharge the typhoons expected to hit

00:25 the country this year.

00:27 Following the passage of Typhoon Agon, scattered rain showers, frequent thunderstorms and

00:35 southwest monsoon, Pag-asa officially declared the start of the rainy season in the country.

00:40 According to Pag-asa, it expects more and frequent rainfall starting in the western

00:44 part of the country, which includes the possibility of monsoon breaks.

00:47 "Where there are days like this where we don't feel the heavy rain, but there are

00:54 thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, so there are frequent thunderstorms in the

00:57 afternoon and evening.
