00:00 We've been building Qashqai at Nissan Sunderland since 2006.

00:16 We expect it to build around 100,000 a year.

00:24 By 2008, we've made over double.

00:25 By 2011, we're the fastest UK plant to build 1 billion units.

00:32 Fast forward nearly 20 years and more than 4 million have walked off the line our plant.

00:46 That means we have built Qashqai at our plants almost every two minutes round the clock for

00:53 the last 18 years.

00:54 We have shipped them to more than 100 countries globally.

01:01 We've sold three-quarters of a million Qashqais in the UK alone.

01:05 We've spread them all out and now on average, we're never more than 500 metres away from

01:11 the Nissan Qashqai in the UK.

01:17 Over the years, Nissan has invested over a billion pounds into building Qashqai in the

01:21 UK.

01:22 The construction alone required a £30 million investment.

01:27 In 2006, we built Qashqai.

01:39 It's here on line 1 in our plant.

01:45 In 2016, it was so popular, we started building it on line 2 as well.

01:54 You could say that all 6,000 of our team here in Sunderland play a role.

01:58 Then there's our team of 1,000 at our UK Design and Technical Centre.

02:06 And it's not just us.

02:07 For all the cars we build, we receive close to 1 million different parts into the plant

02:13 every single day.

02:16 So, just like me, there are 30,000 people in the UK supply chain who are proud to supply

02:23 parts to Nissan Sunderland.

02:29 Our wind and solar farm means that 20% of the energy we use to manufacture our cars

02:36 comes from renewable sources.

02:38 And we're looking to increase that in the coming years.

02:45 The Qashqai of today is powered by Nissan's unique e-Power technology.

02:49 We've assembled more than 100,000 batteries since it first went into production.

02:57 The original Qashqai broke the mould.

03:00 Today's version is very different, but is as bold and distinctive as the Qashqai needs

03:09 And of course, you can personalise your new Qashqai with over 60,000 variations possible.

03:17 We build them all in exactly the right sequence.

03:28 We use cutting-edge tech, more perceptive and precise than the human eye, to make sure

03:31 every one is perfect.

03:37 We carry out 975 quality checks on each Qashqai before we let it leave our plant.

03:46 It takes 14 hours to build a Qashqai, and the finished car looks fantastic.

03:53 Along with our 4 million customers, thousands of our team drive a Qashqai.

03:59 It's a car we love.
