PH Navy assures protection of Filipino fisherfolk in WPS

00:00The anglers and fisherfolk who throw their lines and cast their nets in the West Philippine Sea have been assured of protection from the Philippine Navy.
00:10The assurance coming at the heels of a Chinese threat to illegally nab and detain Filipino fisherfolk caught fishing in the area which the President has strongly rejected and denounced.
00:23At least a hundred ships and vessels from China's coast, People's Liberation Army and the militia have been sighted lately, and mostly in Panatag or Scarborough Shoal.
00:33In the meantime, the Philippine Coast Guard, with the help of local fisherfolk, is seeking to probe an alleged pipe-laying job by the Chinese in Panatag Shoal, which last week's civilian resupply mission reportedly caught sight of.
