In this Esquire Philippines exclusive, Xian Lim sets the record straight about his 12-year relationship with Kim Chiu, all the rumors that have surfaced after the split, and the real score of his current dating life.

00:07We don't deserve that because all the things that people are saying, there's no truth to it.

00:14I would describe it as a rollercoaster.

00:32I never imagined that blessing would happen to me and even getting the opportunity to

00:41play out-of-the-box concepts that are not usually done by the archetype of another.

00:49Because it's different.

00:50The ones I've been doing are very different from Hearts on Ice to False Positive.

00:57Hearts on Ice, I had to learn how to ice skate.

00:59I took private lessons for six months and I got my FS1.

01:07For False Positive, I got to play as Edward Buntis on the show.

01:20That's very out-of-the-box.

01:22And I remember when I first did that, people were saying, it's scary because it's such

01:30a risky thing to do.

01:32You're supposed to be in love, love interests, play it safe.

01:38But no, no.

01:39I was given that opportunity and I was really excited that they gave it to me.

01:46And even this Love Die Repeat, it's such an out-of-the-box concept.

01:49So that is why it's a rollercoaster because I never knew what I was gonna get myself into

01:55or I don't know what to expect.

01:57So yeah, that's my past few years.

02:02Expect the unexpected.

02:09When I was a kid, I wasn't a Bibo kid.

02:14I'm not the one who's like, dance, show off your talents.

02:22I was always that shy kid in the corner.

02:24So I really didn't expect that I would be in the limelight.

02:31The main dream was to become a basketball player.

04:28So it just pains me na maraming hearsay, maraming ang dagdag bawa sa kwento.

04:36It's definitely in a better state.

04:45Iris is a talented filmmaker.

04:48She's my producer, and she is also my creative, she's also my creative partner.

04:57And just to clear everything, just to clear all the speculations, we are seeing each other.

05:03And we are very happy.

05:05The things that I just wanna clarify is, number one rumor, May 3rd party.

05:14There's no third party.

05:18That's it. That plain and simple.

05:21Another rumor na parang, when I see my friends, na parang kinakongratulate na ako.

05:29They said congratulations on the marriage daw in New York, and I'm like, no, I'm not married.

05:40There's also this one absurd article, I guess, or things said about me na parang,

05:51I have been living with someone for years na daw.

05:57The only people I live with is my mom, my lola, my lolo.

06:02Those are the things na parang, it's just so absurd, and it's just parang, why?

06:08Diba, things happen in life.

06:10Hindi natin makokontrol.

06:11Diba, as much as we don't want it to happen, life happens.

06:15You know, it just pains me na parang may taong na damay.

06:20That just really saddens me, and that's very unfortunate.

06:24Ang busy-busy ni Iris, ang busy-busy ko.

06:27She has a lot on her plate, I have a lot on my plate.

06:31And you know, she doesn't deserve all that f**k.

06:35We don't deserve that.

06:37Because all the things na people are saying, there's no truth to it.

06:47No one will truly know what is going on in a relationship.

06:56Kaming dalawa lang makakapagsabi.

07:00And that is why it was our conscious effort to release that statement na,

07:09let's just leave it at that.

07:11Na it's a mutual understanding between me and you, and we're going our separate ways.

07:17Hindi na kailangan pang magsabi kung sinong nagpulang.

07:22Because it was a beautiful relationship.

07:26It was a beautiful 12 years.

07:30And we did work it out.

07:35That's why it lasted that long.

07:42I'm trying to process the taxi cab theory, and I think there's something wrong.

07:46And I think there is something wrong with the metaphor.

07:50I just think na, I can't understand it properly kasi yung theory.

08:02But all I can say, when I see someone, I'm all out.

08:10I'm not the type to fish around.

08:14Of course, there's that initial na parang, swak pa tayo.

08:25This is, we are gonna work through this hanggang sa dulo.

08:29That's my vision, that's my perception on finding a partner, finding love in general.

08:37So yeah, kaya it's just the light on, light off.

08:41It's just not really applicable or hindi ko lang sya masakyan.

08:45That's just me, that's how I love.

08:47And kung magmahal ako lubos.

08:52I was given a chance to sing in a musical Broadway na written and composed by Ryan Cayabiab.

09:12And his wife was coaching me in the piano.

09:15That's that IG post.

09:17She was coaching me and she was trying to see yung full capacity ng voice ko.

09:22She wanted to know how I sing.

09:24So there was a piano there, I played a couple of pieces.

09:27Sabi niya, can I hear?

09:29Sabi niya, okay, okay, that's how you sing pala.

09:32But try this, sabi niya.

09:35The more classical approach of singing on stage.

09:40Singing to a live audience.

09:42So I found that there is magic in the unknown.

09:48Parang gano'n, na parang there's, you have to push yourself and you have to get out of your comfort zone.

09:55And then nothing ever grows in the comfort zone and you have to get out of there.

09:59And do things that you're uncomfortable with.

10:02Like, katuladin, I never expected that I would get an offer from Mr. C himself in singing a musical.

10:12So that's when it, yun lang yung parang punot lulo ng quote na yan.

10:16Nothing too deep.

10:19It's just more of just explore and just give it your all.

10:23Kasi we're in this world in a short period of time na.

10:31To anyone who's watching right now, it's when one door closes or when a chapter closes, another one opens.

10:50So definitely forces, you know, but never be affected.

10:55You do you. You do what you're made, what you're brought here in this world to do.

11:01And for me, that's telling stories, affecting one soul at a time.

11:07Because yan yung ginagawa sakin ng mga kwento. That's what stories do to me.

11:11It changes my perception of life. It turns it into something beautiful.
