Spanish artist Maria Luisa Libertad Polanco is exhibiting a variety of her paintings and prints at The Mansion in Totnes until June 3. The multi-faceted artist, who lived through Spain’s counterculture movement during the country’s transition to democracy in the 1970s, said the exhibition reflects her evolution as an artist in a town ideal for “misfits” like her.

00:00 Well, this one, I've never been to India, but I have always, you know, when I was younger,

00:16 I felt very inspired by Indian philosophy and Indian spirituality. Because, you know,

00:25 after being brought up as a Catholic, you know, I ran away from the faith for many years.

00:31 And then, you know, I got very into their art and the colours and, you know, the beauty

00:37 of the colours of India, you know, and I got very into my Shiva at the time, you know,

00:43 and so into anymore. And this is, you know, just recording those moments, really.
