00:00A rider of an e-bike collided with a truck in San Juan, Ilocos Sur.
00:06In the CCTV footage, you can see the e-bike crossing the road
00:10when it suddenly hit the approaching truck.
00:12Due to the impact, the rider threw himself and his face hit the cement.
00:17The victim was severely injured in the head.
00:20The victim's family filed a complaint against the truck driver.
00:23This explains the sudden crossing of the e-bike
00:27so he was not able to ride the e-bike before it hit the road.
00:33It is said that the e-bike and other services were given
00:36by some congressmen who were assisting
00:39the establishment of community-based daycare centers for senior citizens
00:44in favor of the elderly.
00:47This is Sandra Aguinaldo.
00:52At the age of 75, Adelina helped her family's store
00:56with her son and some grandchildren.
00:59Her daily work was good for her to stay strong.
01:04She also wanted to do the laundry, but it was expensive.
01:09On Saturdays and Sundays, my children and I walk to the UP.
01:14That's why I only spend my time here in our business.
01:19We don't have money for the laundry.
01:22Just like Adelina, the House Bill 10362,
01:26which would benefit if there was a law,
01:29would help establish daycare centers in every barangay for senior citizens.
01:36Under the bill of Representative Milagros Aquino Magsaysay,
01:40community-based daycare centers can be visited by senior citizens
01:45for their tourism and educational, health, and socio-cultural programs and services.
01:52Some of the social services that daycare centers can provide are arts and crafts,
01:58games, dancing, storytelling, and field trips and outings.
02:03Some of the senior citizens we talked to are favorites.
02:07There are senior citizens who believe that if there is a daycare center,
02:13it would be good for them.
02:15But if there is a law that says that senior citizen focal person
02:20in a barangay that needs a budget for building a daycare center and additional staff,
02:27it also needs to be discussed well
02:29what condition of the senior citizen can use the facility
02:34and who will be responsible for their safety while there.
02:38We need the responder, medical staff,
02:44before they join the activities, you need to look at their condition.
02:49According to the Panokalan Batas,
02:51the budget for the daycare center will come from the local government unit.
02:56The centers can also accept donations.
02:59Although it's a good idea,
03:01some of the senior citizens we talked to said that there are other more important needs.
03:07Let's focus on the pending bills for the benefits of senior citizens.
03:15Just like in NCEC, the universal pension that they are talking about,
03:20that's not there yet.
03:22I hope that it will be implemented.
03:24When you reach 80, you have 50,000.
03:27When you reach 90, additional 25,000.
03:30When you reach 100, 25,000.
03:32Which is right, I hope.
03:33Because while the senior is only 80, he can enjoy his 50,000.
03:39For GMA Integrated News,
03:41this is Sandra Aguinaldo for Tutok 24 Horas.
03:46A new phreatic eruption has occurred in the Taal Volcano.
03:49A few minutes before 9 a.m. earlier,
03:52a steam plume erupted that is 300 meters high.
03:57According to PHIVOX, the Taal Volcano has already had 10 phreatic eruptions this month.
04:02But there is no sign of a bigger eruption.
04:05Phreatic eruptions are also normal when a volcano is in alert level 1.
04:10PHIVOX is warning that it is still prohibited to enter the permanent danger zone of the Taal Volcano.
04:23Let's have a quick look at the Shoebiz Happenings.
04:28Isabel Ortega is all crushed and ready to go in their photoshoot with Miguel San Felix for a brand.
04:34But it seems like the wind is blowing differently
04:37because Miguel saw them suddenly raining in the middle of the shoot.
04:41This was explained by two stars.
04:47Love Wins for the vocalist of the 90s OPM band True Faith.
04:51Medwin Marfil is already married to her partner Mark Angeles in California, America.
04:58Congrats also to the former sexy star Lala Montelibano, who is also a good nurse.
05:04According to PRC, Lala has passed more than 7,000 nursing board exams.
05:13The GMA Network continues to be the highest-ranking media company online in the Philippines and throughout Southeast Asia this April.
05:21It is based on the latest Tubular Leaderboard Worldwide Rankings in the Media and Entertainment Category worldwide.
05:29The GMA Network is the 17th in the world.
05:31Tubular is a company that analyzes content online,
05:35as well as the interest and behavior of the audience on various social media platforms.
05:41Michelle D just keeps on sparkling like a true queen.
05:45She is now the well-known ambassador of the Philippine Red Cross
05:50and there are still projects lined up after her reign.
05:53Let's talk to Larson Tsiago.
05:59Stunning in her red outfit is Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle D
06:06when she arrived at the GMA for her contract signing as the new ambassador of the Philippine Red Cross.
06:14Michelle also signed with the GMA Network Senior Vice President,
06:19Attorney Annette Gozon Valdez, and Sparkle Vice President Joy Marcelo.
06:25The Philippine Red Cross was led by its Chairman and CEO, former Senator Richard Gordon.
06:33Being able to utilize my platform and my sphere of influence to positively impact the lives of so many,
06:39that's always at my core, that's the reason why I joined pageantry,
06:43is to really be able to create opportunities for those around me.
06:47She's not just a fabulous artist, not just a beautiful beauty queen, but she has a purpose.
06:53She really embraced the idea of being a brand ambassador, a voice of Red Cross,
07:00because she really believes in the ideals and causes of Red Cross.
07:05I heard her say, she's smart, beautiful, and enthusiastic.
07:10So, I'd imagine that it will be a successful collaboration,
07:16especially during a disaster, she can put up a lot of inspiration.
07:20Next week, she'll be passing on her crown as Miss Universe Philippines.
07:27I feel very nostalgic. I mean, this is the end of a one-year reign,
07:31but also a closing chapter of a seven-year journey to get to where I am.
07:35So, it is going to be a very emotional night when that happens,
07:39but I am very excited for the next queen.
07:42May her destiny shine the brightest that night.
07:45But I will always be there guiding her, making sure that she is prepared to represent the country that we all love.
07:52Coronation Night will be aired on GMA7.
07:55Hosts will be Sylving Hosts, Alden Richards,
07:59Film Miss Universe 2022 Arboni Gabriel,
08:04Sparkle star Gaby Garcia,
08:06American TV personality Jeannie Mai,
08:10and host and eventologist Tim Yap.
08:13Thai superstar Suwin Metawin will also perform.
08:18At the end of Michelle's reign, there are already a lot of projects.
08:24A lot of movies, and of course, a lot of the businesses that I set out to launch and continue.
08:30The Black Rider, I'm still part of that, but there are two projects actually.
08:34One is international that I can't say, but stay tuned, Kapuso.
08:40Or Santiago, updated on the showbiz happening.
08:46A family was pushed into a ditch after a motorcycle and van collided with each other in Sikatuna, Bohol.
08:54CCTV footage shows how the three motorbikes collided with a white van.
09:01One of the riders, a 7-year-old man, was immediately taken to the hospital.
09:06His 5-month-old daughter was saved, but she ran away again.
09:11His father, who used to drive, was also injured.
09:15The van's driver turned to the police and confessed that he was scared,
09:20so the car did not immediately stop when the accident happened.
09:24He also promised to help treat the victims and bury the dead.
09:32It's a mess, but it can't be saved, and sometimes, there's a scam.
09:37The story of many OFWs is planned for the government's seminar before they go abroad.
09:43J.P. Soriano has the story.
09:495 years ago, Margarita worked hard to earn her living
09:53for a salary of 30,000 pesos a month as a healthcare worker in Saudi Arabia.
09:58It was very important in 2013, especially if it was saved for half a decade.
10:04But because she was the breadwinner of the family and her relatives ran away,
10:09she just woke up one day when nothing was saved.
10:13Your effort there, you don't sleep even if you're sick.
10:17You really need to work there.
10:20So when I woke up, I was already in the Philippines.
10:24I said, I should have saved before, not everything will be given to them.
10:29She didn't blame anyone for her sleep.
10:31She also invested in her earnings.
10:34She said it's a good thing that she's going to Canada as a caregiver.
10:39For OFWs like her, the Department of Migrant Workers' Financial Literacy Program
10:47is a part of the seminar that is required for all OFWs to go abroad.
10:53Before an OFW can leave the country, they need to go through the so-called PDOS
10:58or the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar.
11:01What they are taught in that training room is financial literacy
11:06or how an OFW can save money to work abroad.
11:13It's helpful for them to understand the importance of saving, investment,
11:17and how to avoid scams from some private banks,
11:21including the Philippine Stock Exchange or PSE.
11:24A partnership was signed for this collaboration, the PSE Partnership.
11:29You can benefit from their investment in companies in the Philippines.
11:33It's an additional help in improving the economy and creating jobs in the Philippines.
11:39It's also an opportunity for them to earn.
11:42So that there will be more Filipinos educated in terms of how the Philippine stock market works.
11:47High risk, low risk, high yield, low yield.
11:50How to prevent dubious stock offerings or scams or what have you.
11:55And when they decide to return to the country,
11:58they will also be helped by the DMW who helped them enter the business.
12:03The first time OFW, Joanna, is happy about this.
12:07Of course, to save money.
12:09So that in the future, when I go home, I can start a business.
12:14For GMA Integrated News, JP Soriano.
12:18Tune in for 24 hours.
12:21Hard work, perseverance, and determination.
12:23Those are the qualities of a cargador.
12:27And now, she's done as a valedictorian in the Abugasha course.
12:32Let's get to know her in the tutelage of Maris Umadi.
12:38You might think that this is just an ordinary graduation picture of someone who graduated from college.
12:45But behind that sweet smile,
12:48is the not-so-funny sacrifice of 26-year-old Jorenz Oviedo
12:53before graduating from Abugasha last week.
12:56Jorenz has been working since he was a child to continue his studies.
13:01And sometimes, he became a cargador.
13:04They are 12 siblings who need the help of their father, a construction worker,
13:08and their mother, a housewife.
13:10My father helped me sell dirty ice cream.
13:15That was my first job.
13:18I was carrying a heavier styrofoam box than my weight.
13:23I was a dishwasher in a warehouse.
13:25I was also a soft drink cargador.
13:29I also became a boy helper in a hardware store.
13:33I was also helping my father who was a construction worker.
13:38But sometimes, they don't have money to spend.
13:41He doesn't have a place to live or food to eat.
13:44All of his siblings stopped studying.
13:47But Jorenz didn't.
13:49I don't want to be a part of the cycle of poverty.
13:54I don't want to experience what I experienced when I was a child.
13:58He continued to work until he went to college.
14:00And when he was in law school, he worked as a stenographer.
14:05Now, he is the valedictorian of his batch in the University of Caloocan City College of Law.
14:12It's time for him to become a lawyer.
14:14Jorenz dreams of working in a public attorney's office.
14:18I also want to help other people.
14:20I have no means to access justice.
14:26Jorenz's story is just one of many stories of inspiration this graduation season
14:32that reminds us that despite the hardships, we should continue to persevere
14:37because even if the result is not immediate, it will come and it will come.
14:41Let's not accept that our lives will stop because of poverty.
14:46For GMA Integrated News, Maris Umali for 24 Hours.
14:51Breaking news!
14:52The Prime Minister of Slovakia was shot while shaking hands with supporters.

15:25Miko's condition is very serious but stable.
15:28He was able to finish his surgery.
15:30The incident is still being investigated.
15:32It seems that it has something to do with politics.
15:34According to Reuters, this is the first major assassination attempt
15:38by a European political leader in more than 20 years.
15:43Good news!
15:45Seven Filipinos were counted in Forbes Asia's 30 Under 30 Class of 2024.
15:51They were included in the top 30 individuals under the age of 30
15:55who were recognized in the Asia-Pacific region
15:58due to their outstanding potential and social impact in various fields.
16:03The rapper Ezekiel Miller or Eazy Mill was also included in the list.
16:08The rap legends Dr. Dre and Eminem were also noticed.
16:12The two Filipino content creators Abigail Marquez or known as Lumpia Queen
16:20and the licensed pharmacist Arshi Larga were also included in the list.
16:24Congratulations!
16:28A man was killed after he was shot in Tondo, Manila.
16:33He was shot by Von Aquino.
16:38These men were drinking in a bar next to Riles in Barangay 152, Tondo, Manila
16:44past 11 o'clock in the morning.
16:46The man in black walked around while another man was standing.
16:50When they met,
16:52the victim, Jonathan Belen alias Pangan, was shot twice by a black suspect.
16:59After the incident, the suspect casually walked away from our crime scene.
17:06His drinking partners called for help from the barangay and other people in the area.
17:16I was shocked.
17:17There was a man who was walking around our crime scene.
17:23When he was walking around,
17:25we were also shot once or twice.
17:29You can also see in the CCTV footage that the suspect also shot one of the men
17:34whose name is Noel.
17:36The police identified the suspect as Nomer Mendoza alias Buboy,
17:40who was a group member of Noel in Manila City Jail.
17:43There was a man who was walking around our crime scene.
17:46He said,
17:47this is my man.
17:48I said,
17:49don't do that.
17:50You are in front of people.
17:52You will get involved.
17:54He is my man.
17:55That's fine.
17:56In the initial investigation of the Manila Police District Homicide Section,
18:00the victim was shot twice in the face.
18:03The police are looking at two angles in the motive of the shooting.
18:07One is about drugs.
18:09The other one is that they were drinking together.
18:14According to the MPD Homicide,
18:16the suspect was sentenced to five years in prison
18:18for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002
18:22and for violating the Gun Ban in Relation to Omnibus Election Code in January 2022.
18:27He is still being investigated.
18:29We are continuously backtracking the CCTV footages
18:35so that we can track and arrest the suspect.
18:39My brother has nothing to do with this.
18:41He didn't choose to sell drugs.
18:44Yes, we are using drugs.
18:46But to kill someone just like that,
18:49you didn't do the right thing.
18:52For GMA Integrated News,
18:54Vonna Quino, for Tutok, 24 Hours.
18:57A house in Las Piñas City was complained of
19:00where the applicants of a recruitment agency are being imprisoned.
19:05The agency denied it.
19:07Mark Salazar, for Tutok.
19:13The Department of Migrant Workers and PNPC-IDG
19:16was arrested in a house in Las Piñas City.
19:19There were applicants of a recruitment agency
19:23who complained of being imprisoned in their accommodation.
19:27That's why we complained, sir.
19:29We can't go out.
19:30Our gate is being padlocked.
19:32When we go there with our children,
19:34it's prohibited, sir.
19:35Everything is prohibited.
19:36Even if we buy food outside, it's prohibited.
19:39We don't force them to live with us.
19:41We don't have a problem.
19:43It's better for us if they live in another accommodation
19:47because the electricity is low,
19:49the food is low,
19:50they eat everyday,
19:51they wash everyday,
19:53water.
19:54But there were applicants who said
19:56that their accommodation is fine
19:58and they don't want to be rescued.
20:00They don't take anything from us.
20:02They don't give anything.
20:04Nothing.
20:05Not even a peso.
20:06They are the ones who spend money on all our documents.
20:09They are the ones who give us allowance.
20:11You can only find an agency here
20:13that has a grocery every week.
20:15The DMW tried to enter the house
20:18to see the situation of the applicants
20:20but they were not allowed to enter.
20:22Per our records,
20:23this recruitment agency is licensed to us.
20:27However, based on our records,
20:29their accommodation is not registered with the DMW.
20:36Failing to do that,
20:37we will be sanctioning them, penalizing them.
20:41In fact, this is a recruitment violation.
20:44It might lead to suspension or cancellation of the license.
20:47The DMW has the authority to inspect
20:50the accommodation facilities of the recruitment agencies
20:54but they said that they will not force this case.
20:57While the applicants were returning their documents
21:01to the recruitment agency before joining the police,
21:04some applicants admitted
21:06that their documents submitted to the agency were fake.
21:10I told them that I can no longer be a Saudi.
21:13My recruiter told me that I can still be a Saudi
21:16because the agency can release my case
21:18because they are strong in Saudi.
21:20How much money were you asked for?
21:23Here?
21:24We were not asked for anything.
21:27The investigation's attention was focused
21:30on the aforementioned sub-agents
21:32who recruited and forged the documents of the applicants.
21:36But you know that you are not the one who did this.
21:40I know.
21:42But why did you agree?
21:44They said that it's okay.
21:46I told them that I don't have a birth certificate.
21:49They said that it's okay.
21:51Don't say that your real name is not your real name.
21:54The recruitment agency repeatedly denied
21:57that the sub-agents they made are known or connected to them.
22:02We have to establish really if these sub-agents are their agents.
22:06But the mere fact that the documents are found in them,
22:10at least there is a reasonable connection,
22:12at least on its face.
22:14For GMA Integrated News,
