00:00That's probably going to change the prospect of which managers they can realistically attract
00:09because now any head coach they bring in is going to be working under Malky McKay who
00:15will lead the recruitment for Nick Montgomery's successor.
00:20You've got to feel that the early bookmakers odds came out, Derek McInnis was the favorite,
00:26other names up there included Neil Lennon and Steven Robinson, further down the list
00:30you're looking at guys like Alec Neal who we've spoken on this show about whether or
00:34not he would be coming back to Scottish football at this time.
00:38Yeah, but I mean, well, let's focus on McInnis a bit first of all, taking the whole Malky
00:47McKay and putting it to the side just for a minute, even if he wasn't there, could you
00:52see McInnis leaving Kilmarnock with where he's got them at the moment to go to Hibbs
00:58with where they are at the moment, regardless of things like the budget he would have or
01:03his own salary that he'd be getting, but by making that switch?
01:07Yeah, I think first things first, I think obviously Hibbs would be a step up from Kilmarnock.
01:14I think in terms of the infrastructure in place there at Easter Road, it would be an
01:22attractive proposition, I guess, but the big issue at the moment in time is the current
01:27instability I think that the club have in place there, I think there needs to be some
01:32really hard hitting questions asked of the Hibbs hierarchy and whether or not McInnis
01:38would want to come into that type of environment and work with Malky McKay, I don't know what
01:44their kind of relationship is there, and Ben Gensel as well who is now overseeing,
01:49I think that's the fourth manager he's fired during his time as Chief Executive, so whether
01:54or not he would necessarily want to leave a Kilmarnock side who, let's face it, punching
02:00well above their weight, obviously guaranteed European football next season, and he might
02:07be thinking to himself in the back of his mind, how far realistically will I be able
02:11to take a Kilmarnock, if you like, finishing in the top six alone is some achievement for
02:18them, but I just think at this current moment in time, I don't think Danny McInnis would
02:23necessarily be lured by the Hibbs job just based on the current mess above him at this
02:34moment in time, I don't think he would necessarily want to work with the people that they've
02:38put in place at Easter Road.
02:40Yeah, I would tend to agree with that one, and you look at McInnis' track record from
02:46his time at Aberdeen, he obviously knocked back the opportunity to become both Rangers
02:50and Sunderland manager while at Aberdeen, both clubs in terms of infrastructure, budget,
02:57his wage would have all been a step up from Aberdeen, but similar to where Hibbs now,
03:03neither club at the time he was offered those jobs were in any kind of stable, stable slope.
03:11I don't know who in Scottish football would take this at the moment, if I'm being totally
03:15honest.
03:16A younger coach seems more realistic when you're bringing us from maybe Moray at Leith
03:21Robards or...
03:23I can see the Black Knight group links being used, I think it needs to be somebody who's
03:28worked in these, do I say multi-club models, but it needs to be somebody I think who's
03:32familiar with that.
03:33I think people say Scottish football experience, they need that, but it's only good to have
03:38Scottish football experience if it's good Scottish football experience, and I'm not
03:42necessarily sure they can get somebody like that.
03:45Probably one that I've seen that would be kind of interesting to see how ambitious Hibbs
03:48are would be Ronnie Dyla, he's somebody that's worked in Scottish football before, he's worked
03:53within the sort of city group models, so he'll know how that hierarchy works between sporting
03:58directors and perhaps not having all the recruitment, or whether it is going to maybe
04:02be a younger coach who comes in.
04:05Yeah, we're probably looking more at your Reece McCabe's, your Stephen Thompson, Kevin
04:10Thompson, sorry, obviously not Stevie Thompson, he's too busy with...
04:13Sport scenes at St Figues.
04:15Yeah, sport scenes at St Figues, sorry, Kevin Thompson, I mean...
04:18Ian Murray?
04:19Well, I said Ian Murray, but I don't know, I think, yeah, Ian Murray is potentially a
04:26good shot, obviously, with Hibbs' legs.
