00:00If ever it's farmers and fishermen's month, it's hard to harvest and the farmers can't plant because of the high temperature.
00:12So in the continuation of Operation Bayanihan,
00:15some farmers in summer were left with the help of Jimmy Capuso Foundation.
00:20At the back of the quiet and peaceful life of the residents here in San Jorge, in Samar,
00:31the soldiers spread out in the area.
00:36This place and other upland barangays have been the hotbed of insurgency for many decades now.
00:45But the residents have another battle ahead of them, the drought.
00:53Maribik hasn't been able to plant rice yet because there's no rain.
00:58Some of her crops are already dry.
01:01That's why they rely on their sari-sari store.
01:06My crops, like bananas, peanuts, grapefruits, and corn, have not been harvested because of the hot weather.
01:16Eileen, on the other hand, is accepting the drought so that she can have money to spend.
01:22Her crops of vegetables and milk are also affected by the drought.
01:27I send my students to college.
01:32My son is also there. Sometimes, he doesn't have anything to eat.
01:37He just studies, drinks coffee, and reviews.
01:39We depend on the rain. We don't have irrigation here.
01:42Every May, Farmers' Month is celebrated in the country.
01:48That's why Jimmy Capuso Foundation chose a remote place in Samar to send help to the farmers.
01:57We gave food packs and hygiene kits to 38 barangays.
02:03There's also a feeding program for children and adults.
02:07We are very grateful.
02:09Our farmers became beneficiaries of this program of Jimmy Capuso Foundation.
02:16For those who want to join our projects, you can deposit to our bank accounts or send to Cebuan alone here.
02:24We're getting online via G-Cash, Shopee, Lazada, and Metrobank Credit Card.
