PSA: PH employment rate went up to 96.1% in March, unemployment rate down to 3.9%

00:00 National statistician Dennis Mapa announced the country's unemployment rate in March this year
00:04 declined to 3.9 percent from 4.7 percent in March last year with the number of unemployed
00:10 Filipinos dropping to 2 million from 2.42 million in March 2023. In the meantime the employment rate
00:17 for the same period hit 96.1 percent. This is higher than the previous year's 95.3 percent.
00:25 Several sectors contributed to employment gains with the wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing
00:30 and public administration and defense sectors leading the way. In response the National Economic
00:35 and Development Authority or NEDA reaffirmed the government's commitment to creating more
00:40 high quality jobs and fostering a resilient workforce.
