William Shatner spoke with Space.com and local Indiana media about the Total Solar Eclipse and his performance at Indiana University's Hoosier Cosmic Celebration.

00:00 - Well, the sun is gonna be eclipsed.

00:04 That alone is a monumental event.

00:06 And, you know, I mean, it happens every year.

00:11 The sun gets in the way of the sun every year,

00:13 but it affects some narrow part of the earth.

00:18 So that the next one over Indiana

00:23 will be like a hundred years from now.

00:25 We'll all be dead.

00:26 I might not be, but you guys are gonna be dead

00:29 the next time.

00:30 So it's an event.

00:33 But when you ponder the mystery,

00:36 if you ponder what's taking place in the heavens,

00:40 it's gargantuan.

00:43 It's perfectly probable

00:46 that there'll be an enormous thunderstorm

00:50 the instant the sun is eclipsed.

00:53 It's also perfectly possible

00:55 that it'll be a clear, bright, lovely, warm spring day.

01:00 And we will all enjoy the benefits of the Hoosier weather.

01:06 What happens if it's cloudy?

01:08 I don't know.

01:11 It's like looking into the pit of a volcano saying,

01:16 what do we do about that thing?

01:19 And there's nothing can be done.

01:22 There's nothing can be done.

01:23 I've devised 15 minutes of me talking to the audience,

01:28 15 minutes before the actual eclipse.

01:32 And because my last words,

01:35 I'm sure will be, and now the eclipse.

01:38 And the eclipse happens.
