CONCACAF, the soccer authority for North, Central America, and the Caribbean, has highlighted ongoing issues with homophobic chants in stadiums, notably during a recent Nations League final where U.S. players were targeted by Mexican fans. The final's disruptions are part of a pattern that includes previous fines totaling $650,000 for the Mexican Football Federation and closed-door matches mandated by FIFA. In response, CONCACAF launched an awareness campaign to promote respect among fans as the region prepares to co-host the 2026 World Cup.
