He was here for a few weeks to catch up on things and do what he's known for, before heading to the USA on Friday afternoon.

Former national cyclist Emile Abraham, who is approaching a milestone on April 28th, continues to ride for his club in Atlanta and plans on doing more in T&T very soon.

Vinod Narwani and cameraman Brandon Benoit caught up with Abraham at Piarco International Airport earlier Friday.

00:00 Former Trinidad and Tobago cyclist Emil Abraham is going strong despite the fact
00:04 that he turns 50 in two weeks. Abraham left these shores on Friday afternoon to
00:08 head back to the USA where he resides. For him the three-week experience back
00:13 home was second to none. Well it just so happened that I came here for some
00:17 family affairs and it coincided being here for Easter and stuff like that so
00:22 since I was gonna be here I took part in the Easter Grand Prix and I did pretty
00:28 well I just had fun with it and you know I'm retired but you know I did well I
00:32 was happy to come back and it was my first time racing at the Cuva Velodrome
00:36 for all those years that has been here but you know it's a wonderful track.
00:41 Abraham is remembered for his silver medal in the road race at the 2007 Pan Am
00:47 Games in Brazil. Age is just a number which is why he continues to remain
00:51 active as a cyclist. Yeah well you know I still run my team the North Georgia
00:56 Cycling Association in Atlanta that's that's an ongoing thing for me I still
01:02 have my affiliation with Mr. Abood and PharmaCo here in Trinidad we are now
01:07 affiliated with GLD Academy with Justain Phillip so that's who I was competing
01:13 with while I was here in Trinidad so you know I'm still you know we still trying
01:18 to help with the development of cycling Trinidad Justain is doing a great job.
01:22 The Tobago born athlete continues to visit these shores for business and
01:26 pleasure since his family is based here and when next does he plan to do so
01:31 again? Well I hope to come back again for the Tobago International Cycling
01:35 Classic I did amazing last year I got third overall finishing on the podium in
01:40 the pro category that that was a major major achievement for me at 49 years old
01:47 but you know I'm still hoping to be able to come back and do the classic again
01:51 it's home soil I think that always gives me the motivation so you know as long as
01:57 I could pull it off at work and etc you know I'll come back and and do that
02:01 again for sure. Besides riding with his club in the US
02:05 Abraham also has a job and he has to find ways to balance the two. Yeah well I
02:11 work for UPS and in the US you know I drive freight for UPS and I really love
02:17 the job it's it's fantastic never in my lifetime I thought I would be driving an
02:21 18-wheeler it's been hampering a lot of my training abilities because we work on
02:26 average 12 hours a day so I haven't been able to train as much as I would like
02:31 but you know at this point in my life work comes first cycling comes after. As
02:38 soon as Abraham touches the US he plans on taking part in a race on Saturday
02:43 talk about passion. Vinod Nawani TV6 Sport
