PMC members endure the searing heat at Jose Rizal monument
  • 13 days ago
Members of Philippine Marines endure the searing heat of the midday sun as they fulfill their duty as honour guards at the monument of Jose Rizal in Luneta Park, Manila on Monday, April 4.

The honour guards are assigned two hours of shifting and are allowed a few minutes of water break to beat the heat.

A proposal for a noontime break until four in the afternoon is being suggested to both the management of the National Parks Development Committee and the Philippine Navy to avoid any heat-related health complications.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that workers may opt not to report for work due to dangers linked to extreme heat, however, will not get paid for the day. (MB Video by Noel B. Pabalate)
