00:00 Welcome to the fourth edition of Paris-Roubaix Femme Eveks Zwift.
00:10 This year, again, uncertainty is the order of the day before the departure of the female
00:14 version of the Hell of the North.
00:16 After three crazy races in recent years and three different winners with changing race
00:20 scenarios, it's impossible to predict with confidence who will finally deliver.
00:24 Last year the favourites were surprised and it was the Canadian Alison Jackson who took
00:27 the glory after a small group sprint on the Roubaix Velodrome.
00:31 This year, the stars will have to be vigilant and everyone has been warned.
00:35 The Lidl track team, winners of the first two editions, will be closely monitored, as
00:39 will world champion Lotte Kopecky and Marianne Vos.
00:41 "We've seen different scenarios all over, so that's the beauty of the race.
00:46 I think everything can happen and that's also the mindset you have to start with.
00:52 I hope we have a look at our sides a little bit and let's hope for a nice battle."
00:59 "I'm not the only leader and of course our team is super motivated.
01:06 Always for this race, everybody, not only the riders, also the people around it.
01:12 We know that we need to be in place, in front, and from there on we just need to see how
01:17 the race develops.
01:18 It's a race that's hard to predict how it's really developing.
01:24 We only know one thing for sure and that's when you need to waste a lot of energy on
01:30 the wrong moments.
01:31 That doesn't help when you come on the track in Roubaix."
01:35 "For sure, we'll have a crucial role today.
01:39 A lot of crosswinds on the cobbles and then there's no hiding, so it will make the race
01:46 harder.
01:47 Also, with the rain of the last days, the sides, you better stay out of them.
01:53 It only makes the race harder, I think."
01:55 Here's the route of the 2024 edition with expected dry weather and a strong tailwind
01:59 which could influence the race average over the planned 148 kilometres.
02:04 After a circuit around Daenam, the riders will take the cobblestone roads, with the
02:07 first of 17 sectors appearing after 66 kilometres of racing.
02:11 There's a total of just over 29 kilometres of unpaved, cobbled roads to cover before
02:15 arriving at the Roubaix Velodrome.
02:18 Among the most famous and challenging are the sectors of Orchies, Camps-Fins-en-Pévèle,
02:22 Monts-en-Pévèle and the formidable Carrefour de l'Arbre.
02:29 After an early attack at the start of the race, the riders reformed and approached the
02:32 first paved sector at kilometre 66 almost as one group.
02:37 The acceleration of the Movistar and the Visma Leesabike squads caused cracks in the peloton
02:41 as many riders sought to reposition themselves before the main hostilities began.
02:46 Entering the Ornang in Vanguigny's sector at nearly 35 kilometres per hour, there are
02:50 82 kilometres left to go, the longest sector of the day at 3.7 kilometres coming first.
02:58 The DSM squad has regained control and the peloton is very stretched.
03:02 Already around 30 riders have been dropped.
03:06 In the third sector, alternating between dusty cobblestones and mud on the sides of the road,
03:10 the peloton disintegrates and a group formed under the leadership of reigning world champion
03:15 Lodo Kopecky leaves the sector a little ahead.
03:19 The favourites are there, Balsamo, Brand, Vivas and also Vos who were able to hang on
03:23 Kopecky's wheel.
03:25 Alison Jackson is included too and the outgoing winner tries her luck with an attack on the
03:30 smooth bitumen before sector 14 towards Orchies 65 kilometres from the finish.
03:37 Alan van Dijk from the Lidl Trek squad then imposed a big tempo and the selection is made
03:42 naturally.
03:43 Only the best can follow and there are only around 40 of them.
03:46 Lodo Kopecky comes to the front, a big acceleration, Pfeiffer-Georgi responds, as does Schweinberger
03:52 and it's the same three riders every single time up towards the front.
03:58 Following Kopecky's acceleration, a strong group breaks away but there are only five
04:02 of them and soon Lorena Vivas struggles to keep up and drops back.
04:06 The group quickly gains a lead of around 10 seconds but the junction will be made in the
04:10 Monts-en-Pévèle sector.
04:11 The lead group shrinks and there are barely more than 20 out front.
04:16 Kopecky also seems in great shape and does not hesitate to accelerate as soon as the
04:21 road rises a little.
04:23 Down to the final 40 kilometres and a thinning out of the leaders continues to take place.
04:29 At the entrance to sector 8, Templuve, a rider from FDJ Suez tries her luck.
04:34 It's Jade Ville, the 2019 French road race champion who gains around 15 seconds on the
04:39 group of favourites.
04:40 The former French junior cyclocross champion takes advantage of the stalemate in the peloton
04:45 to carve out a gap before the feared sequence of Camp-Fins-en-Pévèle and Carrefour-de-l'Arbre
04:51 sectors.
04:53 Entering the final 30 kilometres, sector 6 looms but the lead drops to just 10 seconds
04:57 for the FDJ Suez rider who will be reeled in by the end of this sector 23 kilometres
05:02 from the finish.
05:04 It's the moment chosen by Lidl Trek's Dutch time trial star Ellen van Dijk and her compatriot
05:09 Amber Krak from FDJ Suez to hit the front.
05:12 Lotte Kopecky takes the opportunity to set a searing pace and she is quickly accompanied
05:16 by Balsamo and Marianne Vos.
05:18 The three chasers soon join the two Dutch leaders and the quintet enters the fabled
05:23 Carrefour-de-l'Arbre together, the last big sector of the race and the fourth from the
05:28 finish.
05:29 British champion Pfeiffer Georgie is fighting to come back to the leaders after tangling
05:33 with a teammate.
05:35 About 10 kilometres from the finish, Balsamo, who had been dropped, returns to the front
05:39 in the company of DSM's Pfeiffer Georgie and there are now six out front, around half a
05:43 minute clear of a group including star sprinter Lorena Wiebes.
05:47 But the penultimate sector is in sight and the main difficulties are behind them now
05:51 as the leaders focus on the finale.
05:54 It's certain now that victory will be decided between the leading six.
05:59 Now Pfeiffer Georgie takes a look over her right hand shoulder and it's all keeping together
06:04 but Kopecky is slightly boxed in here.
06:07 She's trying to find a way out and she's not going to be able to find a way, she's going
06:10 to have to come the long way round and can she get herself out of this position?

06:58 It's a first win for Belgium in Paris Roubaix and a first for Esty Works as the green jersey

07:35 Lotte Kopecky takes the victory ahead of Elisa Balsamo from the Lidl Trek Squad, which is
07:40 still searching for a third Paris Roubaix cobble after having pocketed the first two.
07:44 Pfeiffer Georgie caps an excellent comeback ride by snatching the final podium place from
07:48 Marianne Vos.
07:49 Lorena Wiebes commands the chase group sprint to take seventh place.
07:53 The first French rider home is Victoire Berthot in eighth, just ahead of Marie Lennay.
07:57 The first cobble for Lotte Kopecky, the reigning world champion, who next year will wear Dossard
08:02 number one as the rider to beat in the hell of the north.
