00:11 Pipe Bomb!
00:12 Greater than!
00:13 Math!
00:14 Don't buy Luke's stupid t-shirt!
00:16 Math greater than Pipe Bomb!
00:17 That's a stupid t-shirt!
00:19 I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:29 It's two more sleeps till Christmas WrestleMania.
00:34 WrestleMania 14 Night One is in two days.
00:37 The card is set, the match order is reportedly finished, and there's some interesting travel
00:43 arrangements being made for free agents.
00:46 WWE's interest in the former New Japan Strong Women's Champion Julia has been reported
00:51 on for almost a year.
00:52 And with her stardom contracts now up, we could have a clue for her next move.
00:57 Because according to Tokyo Sports, Julia was spotted boarding a plane to the United States,
01:03 where an appearance in Philadelphia where WrestleMania 40 is taking place is said to
01:07 be a high possibility.
01:10 Adding to this, Stardom's founder Rossi Agawa, who was fired two months ago, has also
01:14 been pictured in the US, posting a photo of himself and WWE star Piper Niven, who used
01:20 to wrestle for him in Stardom.
01:22 Julia is known to be close with Agawa, with her WWE move reportedly being delayed so Julia
01:28 could help Rossi start up his own promotion.
01:30 For more context, Julia also recently appeared in Pro Wrestling Noah to set up a match at
01:35 their May 4th pay-per-view WrestleMagic.
01:39 Julia shown in the crowd at WrestleMania or Stand and Deliver for her to actually debut
01:42 several months later confirmed.
01:45 One appearance that absolutely will be there for WrestleMania, however, is Rock 'The
01:50 Dwayne' Johnson, who will compete in the ring for the first time since his previous
01:54 Famous Mania feud.
01:57 Beat an Eric Rowne in 6 seconds.
01:59 For the tag match, because, remember, he's not actually the one fighting Cody in a singles
02:03 bout, Rock has been portraying his new violent 'Final Boss' character, which has taken
02:09 inspiration from his real-life position on TKO's board.
02:13 It's like saying, oh yeah, Triple H is your WWE boss, but I am…
02:18 I am the more boss.
02:19 Rock and Triple H have a decades long rivalry.
02:22 Please watch my Feud Forever documentary on their crazily mirrored careers in the video
02:26 description below, and it was speculated another power struggle was taking place between them
02:31 behind the scenes.
02:33 PWInsider even reported that The Rock's own personal creative writer Brian Gowitz
02:38 was being considered as a plan B for WWE's creative as a whole in the future.
02:43 According to WWE President Nick Khan, though, it's all good.
02:47 Speaking on the Town with Matthew Bologna, Khan revealed Rock is in constant discussions
02:52 with Triple H regarding his creative, with his recent work as a heel exciting him.
02:57 And he reiterated that Paul Levesque is in charge of all creative, and he's owed a
03:01 lot of credit for the rating success that we've had recently.
03:05 Speaking of The Rock, his Final Boss character is so great, it's even made AEW's MJF
03:11 break his social media silence, following The Rock offering to buy a painting of his
03:15 Cody beatdown - which was made by MJF's ex Naomi Rosenblum - prompting Max to reply
03:21 "First you steal my glorious idea to lash Cody.
03:25 Now you try to cop art from my ex.
03:27 I'm a fan.
03:28 But please leave me be, Dewey."
03:30 MJF to WrestleMania confirmed.
03:33 But a far bigger confirmation is the latest competitor being added to PFK's 40 years
03:38 of WrestleMania tournament, live streamed tomorrow.
04:08 Adam Copeland's faulty microphone literally giving him negative feedback should've been
04:35 an ironic warning not to cut a promo on receiving negative feedback.
04:39 He opened the show with a 6 minute in-ring promo, saying that there's a lot of negativity
04:44 out there in the wrestling world right now - I can't say it in a Punk interview, God
04:47 - but we should all be appreciative of the amazing wrestling time we're living through.
04:51 He's not knocking anywhere else, but AEW is the most fun company, has the best wrestlers
04:56 like Will Ospreay - which, to be fair to Edge's mispronunciation, is the sound Ospreay makes
05:00 when he runs the ropes really fast - and is where he wants to end his career.
05:07 Because AEW is where the big boys come to p-I mean, AEW is where the best wrestle.
05:15 A very nice sentiment, I agree with.
05:17 But there was no storyline reasoning behind this segment.
05:20 It seemed purely reactive to CM Punk's Ariel Hawani interview from earlier in the week.
05:25 And for that reason, I found it rather cringe.
05:28 Even if your intentions are genuine, which I'm pretty sure they are, it's hard for
05:31 this message to not seem like damage control.
05:34 Basing the opening of your canon TV show around an interview that wasn't even on any of
05:39 your competitors' channels makes you feel small fry.
05:43 All of this could've just been a line in someone else's promo.
05:45 But devoting the first segment with one of your top stars, an ex-WWE star for that, clearly
05:50 stamps a number 2 perception on this product.
05:54 And ultimately, who is this segment going to win over?
05:57 Are all the AEW critics or WWE stans suddenly going to go 'well, actually when you put
06:03 it like that, Will Ospreay is a pretty good wrestler, I will stop saying so many nasty
06:07 things'.
06:08 I found it self-indulgent, reactive and mostly a waste of TV time that should've been spent
06:14 continuing the great storyline momentum you've been building this year.
06:18 Edge then introduced Ospreay for the show's opening match against Will Hobbs, a guest
06:22 presentation from Don Callis Championship Wrestling, where the best of the best wrestle.
06:28 While it was the least best Ospreay match of his run so far, it was still a great story
06:32 of power vs speed.
06:33 Will won with a hidden blade, meaning he's beaten every one of his Callis family faction
06:37 mates.
06:38 I don't quite know where they go with that tension, which saw Hobbs shout at Will in
06:41 the post-match, but I'm interested.
06:44 That's the longer term story, though.
06:46 Right now we have the dream match build for Ospreay vs Bryan Danielson, where they passed
06:51 each other on the entrance ramp.
06:52 After both men beat the same opponent in Shabbat last week, they both took on similar types
06:57 of opponent this week - Ospreay overcoming Hobbs in the opener, and Danielson beating
07:02 Lance Archer here.
07:04 Archer spent most of the time on top, even using an actual person as a weapon at one
07:08 point.
07:09 But a terrific finishing sequence saw Danielson hit one knee, three kicks to the head and
07:14 a second knee to win.
07:16 Unfortunately, the next 20 minutes was AEW's midcard at its worst.
07:21 Even Chris Jericho's onscreen graphics get booed these days.
07:24 He was interviewed onstage by Renee Paquette.
07:26 Hook joined them and said while he doesn't trust Jericho, he'll team with him to rise
07:30 his own stock.
07:31 They'll have a match against Shane Taylor Promotions on Collision.
07:34 This storyline's quality and its pace is sapping all the great work they did with Hook
07:39 at the start of this year.
07:41 And the following Jey White vs Billy Gunn match undid a lot of the excitement I felt
07:45 for White following his reheel turn against Darby.
07:48 Billy did awesomely appear right behind Jey in the best entrance in wrestling to start
07:53 the brawl, but then White never got any offence in.
07:56 Instead, it was 10 minutes of Billy Gunn beating White in the ring and around the crowd.
08:01 Where he had it won, hitting two Feymasters, went to get a chair, but the gun stopped him
08:06 and Jey hit the low blow right in front of the referee.
08:10 Meaning Billy still won via DQ.
08:12 The Acclaim then ran down, beat all of Bullet Club Gold up, and then stood tall.
08:16 What are they doing with Jey White?
08:19 He was fighting for the World Championship six months ago.
08:22 I hated this.
08:23 Thankfully the show returned to a very high quality after that.
08:26 Willow Nightingale cut a mother-fluffingly lovely promo about fighting for the TBS Championship
08:30 at Dynasty.
08:31 She is AEW's NXT Bayley.
08:33 And you've got a Sasha Banks right there.
08:37 Speaking of, Mercedes Monet interrupted to say she'll fight whoever wins at Dynasty
08:41 at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas.
08:45 Which is… seven and a half weeks away.
08:48 Or two and a half months since Mercedes debuted.
08:51 This is another storyline that is moving painfully slow.
08:54 But at least it's making the women's division and Willow more of a focus.
08:58 The match of the night came next, with Matthew and Nicholas Jackson beating the best friends
09:02 in the tag team title tournament semifinals using… all the heel tactics.
09:08 Superkicking Chucky on the outside, exposing the top turnbuckle, grabbing the tights for
09:12 the winning pin.
09:13 And nearly superkicking Trent's mum Sue in a spot that took an already hot-crowd nuclear
09:19 for the closing minutes.
09:21 Heel bucks are the best bucks.
09:23 They'll advance, presumably to fight FTR for the vacant belt at Dynasty.
09:28 But the other story was could Trent win the big one?
09:30 Big one shoutout to German Dan.
09:32 Well as I already recapped in the match, no.
09:35 No he can't.
09:36 So after months and months of building frustration when the best friends were going to do their
09:40 post-match best friends hug, Trent expertly turned it into a running knee on Orange Cassidy.
09:46 Somehow shocking, but totally expected.
09:49 Thunder Rosa beat Mariah May, meaning she's the No. 1 contender to Toni Storm, who, as
09:53 usual, was the best thing about the match on commentary, which included this line.
09:57 Mariah May reminds me of a young Toni Storm.
10:00 Thunder Rosa is just an older Thunder Rosa.
10:03 And the main event saw Senor Joe and Swerve Strickland's contract signing for the World
10:07 Championship match at Dynasty.
10:09 This was excellent, with both men getting over their characters, the conflict between
10:13 them and making a really compelling case that either guy could win.
10:17 Joe because he's a mean mother fluffer, and Swerve because he's a sick fluff.
10:23 Joe broke it down in rapper terms for Swerve to understand, my Dizzle.
10:26 He's going to beat him so hard, it's going to leave him mentally scarred.
10:30 Like he left a P.W.D. party too late.
10:32 And Strickland, covered in blood from Joe's chain attack, said he loves this and signed
10:37 the contract in his own blood.
10:39 For Joe to somehow appear extremely pissed off and very scared at the same time.
10:44 A great angle that could spell disaster for Samoa Joe at Dynasty.
10:48 This week's Dynamite is 66 and two thirds perc-NO DAMN IT NO.
10:53 NO.
10:54 It's 73%.
10:55 Show your true support, buy a Pipe Bomb greater than math t-shirt from the link below, not
11:01 this stupid maths greater than pipe bomb promo.
11:05 What a ridiculous statement.
