00:02 As church bells chimed and Easter services began on Sunday,
00:06 parishioners streamed into churches,
00:08 brimming with warmth and reverence.
00:11 The vibrant spirit of celebration permeated
00:13 the 9 a.m. service at St. Paul's Anglican Church
00:16 in Petaling Jaya.
00:17 In that very long chapter,
00:20 all of our services, more and more people are attending.
00:23 And for this Easter service, it's definitely a bigger group.
00:27 Usually we put tents outside
00:28 for Christmas and New Year,
00:30 but we didn't realise there were going to be so many people today.
00:33 So I think maybe there are about 400, 450 people,
00:36 which is quite a lot.
00:37 And so people are coming out.
00:40 I don't know whether it's the second coming or what.
00:42 People are getting ready.
00:44 Mmm, very encouraging.
00:46 Even for our Good Friday service,
00:49 it was packed, something like this was full.
00:53 In the past years, even before COVID,
00:55 we never had it so full.
00:57 So every year it's increasing a little bit more.
00:59 And of course, there's still a lot of people that watch online
01:01 and they're comfortable.
01:03 For 85-year-old parishioner Amy David,
01:05 Easter holds a significance surpassing even that of Christmas.
01:10 God sent his Son onto the earth to save us from our sins.

01:18 I really come into tears when I see that he died for our sins.
01:22 This year especially,
01:24 I'm having a generation,
01:29 a hundred years old generation gathering.
01:32 My grandparents had 12 children.
01:35 I came to live in KL 20 years ago from Butterworth.
01:38 After that, I started gathering all these 12 siblings.
01:42 And we're having a second gathering on the 13th of April.
01:47 The church service ended with peaceful greetings among the parishioners,
01:51 accompanied by hymns sung by the church choir.
01:54 Easter marks the culmination of the 40-day Lent,
01:57 and unlike Good Friday,
01:58 which commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ,
02:01 Easter celebrates his resurrection from the dead.
