A midnight raid on Friday (March 29) at an entertainment centre in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Baru, saw the arrests of 63 people, including 54 foreign women suspected to be working as guest relations officers (GROs).

00:14 Johor Immigration Department Director Baharuddin Tahir said a total of 93 people were inspected
00:19 during Friday's midnight raid.
00:21 In a statement, he said those arrested included 60 foreigners, 54 of them women believed to
00:27 be from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and China.
00:30 He added that six foreign men from Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal were apprehended for their
00:36 roles as bouncers and staff at the establishment.
00:39 Two local women and a local man, believed to be the GROs' caretakers and supervisor,
00:44 were also arrested during the raid.
00:46 Baharuddin said those detained were being investigated for violating immigration laws,
00:52 including some of the women who had misused their powers as spouses of Malaysian citizens.
00:57 He said the three locals were being investigated under Section 56, Subsection 1, Subsection
01:02 D of the Immigration Act 1959-1963 for harbouring undocumented migrants.
