00:04 that is going through arbitration of the settlement of the dispute in the West Philippine Sea.
00:08 This is in front of the re-bombing of the water cannon of the Chinese ships
00:13 in the resupply boat of the Philippines this Saturday.
00:16 This is what Patrick De Jesus said.
00:18 We are not the ones who are blocking anyone in the West Philippine Sea.
00:27 We are the ones who are blocking.
00:29 So what are we going to do?
00:31 We are just going to let it go?
00:33 I don't think that's possible.
00:35 Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. challenged China
00:39 that is going through arbitration of the dispute in the West Philippine Sea.
00:41 This is in front of the re-bombing of the water cannon of the Chinese ships
00:48 in the resupply boat of the Philippines this Saturday.
00:52 This is in front of the re-bombing of the water cannon of the Chinese ships
00:58 this Saturday for the soldiers stationed in the BRP Sierra Madre.
01:02 Teodoro said that the Philippines is just using our rights in our territory.
01:08 But China is repeatedly doing illegal acts that are being witnessed by the whole world.
01:16 The problem is that China is too big and the Philippines is too small.
01:22 They want to take us for their people.
01:28 So that's not possible.
01:30 The Philippines and its rights under international law
01:37 are for the benefit of the Filipinos.
01:39 And whoever we want to include there,
01:43 China does not care to say that they are the only ones who can.
01:47 Teodoro challenged China to go through arbitration of the dispute in the WPS.
01:53 Because it seems that China is not following the talks despite the repeated dialogue.
02:01 Now, to make it clear, if they want, they can let the world know
02:07 to make it clear their position under international law.
02:11 We will let our position be known, we will arbitrate.
02:17 That is the best way of solving a legal dispute sustainably.
02:23 But they don't want to.
02:25 Teodoro added that our activities in the West Philippine Sea have no influence of any country.
02:31 He also asked all the Filipinos to talk about the continuation of our rights here
02:37 and not to be influenced by the propaganda of China.
02:41 The whole world knows that China is doing something illegal
02:47 to destroy the West Philippine Sea
02:58 based on their unbelievable historical narrative
03:03 that no country in the world believes in.
03:07 And many are going down.
03:11 So, in other words, even if they are hard to believe,
03:18 despite our great differences in the West Philippine Sea
03:29 under UNCLOS and international law,
03:34 we are allies and no country is attacking us.
03:43 The Department of Foreign Affairs called the Chinese Embassy
03:48 to announce the possible conviction of the Chinese Coast Guard and Chinese Maritime Militia
03:57 and ordered the Philippine Embassy in Beijing to file a complaint with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
04:05 It stated that China has no right to the Yungin Shoal, a low-tide elevation,
04:11 and it stated that the Philippines has an exclusive economic zone and continental shelf
04:16 under UNCLOS, which was approved by the 2016 Arbitral Award.
04:22 The DFA added that China's continued asking for information on the activities of the Philippines
04:27 within our EEZ is not acceptable to the sovereign rights and jurisdiction.
04:34 The Philippines also sent China to the vicinity of the Yungin Shoal and our EEZ.
04:40 The government of all was also made to ease tensions
04:45 according to the talks between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
04:52 But it seems that it is contrary to what China is doing.
04:55 The Philippines also reminded that China will stop its continued violation of international law.
05:02 China also replied that it did not recognize the 2016 Arbitral Award approved by the Philippines.
05:09 In the midst of the ongoing tensions, the DFA thanked the international community
05:16 for its continued support of the Philippines and the implementation of international order based on international law
05:23 where 21 countries issued a statement of support.
05:28 Patrick De Jesus for Pambasan TV in Bagong, Philippines.
