00:00 The mutual defense treaty between the Philippines and America will not be easily reached.
00:06 US Ambassador to the Philippines Mary Kay Carlson said this in my exclusive interview.
00:12 Defense treaty, it's not an if A then B.
00:17 It's not as if somehow you trip a wire and it's automatically invoked.
00:22 These are negotiations, these are discussions that our countries, our leadership, our militaries have day in day out.
00:29 And I think that what President Marcos said yesterday is exactly where the United States is on this.
00:36 The treaty has great value as a deterrent in showing that we are strong together.
00:42 It's been more than 70 years since the signing of the mutual defense treaty in 1951.
00:48 In the previous administration, it was called for revision, but Ambassador Carlson did not see the need for this.
00:58 As President Marcos has said, that the mutual defense treaty has stood the test of time,
01:03 that it's nimble enough to handle the situation, the current situation that we're all facing.
01:08 So I don't see a need to revise it, but certainly it is a living document
01:13 and one that we continue to address and assess through our day to day operations.
01:20 Even though they are senior citizens, some of our countrymen still have a chance to make a living.
01:26 That's why they were given a living package from the government.
01:30 Witness, Bernadette Reyes.
01:32 Are you a senior citizen but you don't want to just rely on your pension?
01:39 You're retired but you still want to run a business?
01:42 Some of you, like you, have a food cart business, became a retailer of rice or a cook
01:47 in a program of the Labor Department and the National Commission of Senior Citizens.
01:52 From the items like the pot for the rice and the ingredients like the noodles,
01:58 all of it was given to senior citizens who still want to work and be productive.
02:03 It's not free because you have to pay for it.
02:07 You have to be accountable. If it's not paid, you have to add more.
02:12 The business is suited to the likes and habits of senior citizens.
02:16 For example, Christina chose the Karinderia Showcase.
02:20 I like cooking.
02:22 There are a lot of people in our area who like to cook.
02:29 Grandma Irene can still run a kitchen and a home even though she's 74 years old.
02:35 I used to run a kitchen in Quezon City.
02:39 I can still do it. I still do worship services.
02:42 Grandma Satornina chose the food cart business at 78 years old.
02:47 This is a big thing for me. This will help me.
02:51 I don't have any income.
02:55 They are among the 300 recipients of the livelihood package in Manila.
02:59 We want to show that if the seniors are able to be productive,
03:04 they don't need help if they have a job.
03:08 For GMA Integrated News, Bernadette Reyes, your Saksi.
03:14 Some people who watched and participated in the drag race
03:17 in Dingras, Ilocos Norte were shocked.
03:20 You can see in the video that some people were hit by a piece of wood.
03:25 The groups also got scared.
03:28 According to the police, some participants in the drag race were not able to communicate.
03:33 That's why the chaos happened.
03:34 The organizers of the drag race did not allow it
03:37 because the incident was already discussed and no injuries were reported.
03:43 According to the Disgracia, the firemen responded to a fire in Cebu.
03:47 A fire truck was towed by some residents.
03:50 During the fire, the fire truck stopped to load water.
03:55 The driver got off to help but the fire truck suddenly got off and hit the residents.
04:01 The 62-year-old man who was helping the firefighters was killed.
04:07 15 more residents were injured. The LGU provided financial assistance to the victims.
04:13 Five houses were also hit by the fire.
04:16 The fire was also known to be caused by the rain.

05:14 While flying in the air, the hot air balloon fell on the side of the road in Minnesota, America.
05:23 The basket in the balloon was separated and there was a fire.
05:27 The balloon was flown a few kilometers from the crash site.
05:31 According to the police, the hot air balloon was about to explode when it was pushed by strong wind and hit the power line.
05:39 Two of the three vehicles were minorly injured.
05:42 An inspirational woman with a heart for animals, that's Carla Avilana.
05:56 She was recognized as a star for being an advocate of the Animal Welfare Act.
06:00 Carla received the Compassion Champion Award and was also recognized as one of the Women of Influence of 2024 of Cosmopolitan Philippines.
06:10 Carla's recognition is a time of hot issues of animal cruelty, like the incident of killing the golden retriever, Kilua.
06:19 Carla is one of those who are called by the justice.
06:23 Carla is ready to cross Tom Rodriguez's path.
06:27 She also has an answer about what Tom said, that he has a new love life.
06:32 It's not any of my concern anymore if we will cross paths, whether in the studio or what, guesting or whatever.
06:43 I'm prepared for that. But you know, I'll just be myself. I'll let him be.
