Laparoscopic Transabdominal Preperitoneal (TAPP) repair is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to repair indirect inguinal hernias. The procedure involves making small incisions in the abdomen, through which a laparoscope and surgical instruments are inserted. The surgeon then identifies the hernia sac, reduces it back into the abdomen, and reinforces the weakened abdominal wall with a mesh. TAPP repair offers advantages such as reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery times compared to traditional open hernia repair. However, it may not be suitable for all patients, and risks include infection, bleeding, and recurrence of the hernia.
