Guaratiba, on the west side of Rio, hit a whopping 62.3°C (144.14°F) this Sunday morning, as reported by the Brazilian government news agency. This marks the highest thermal sensation ever recorded since the Rio Alert System started tracking temperatures in 2014, according to the Rio Operations Centre (COR).
