The Truck Farmer (First Edition)

Excerpts from an incredibly racist 1930s educational film. It's amazing how "cheap Mexican labor" is completely accepted as necessary so that American housewives can pay less for winter vegetables! A fascinating look at attitudes that persist to this day. The horribly dubbed dialogue is pretty funny, too.

A second edition of this short was released in 1954 and shown on MST3K - all references to Mexican and child labor had been removed, but a shot of a child in the field remained. And all the stilted acting of the farmer's family was gone - what a loss!
