Fourteen people were rescued by the world's largest cruise ship after they were left stranded at sea for eight days

The Icon of the Seas made the rescue on March 3rd, its first full day of cruising while on the way to Miami, Florida, USA, from Honduras.

The ship deployed a life raft and conducted the rescue operation, which took about two hours.

According to passengers, the life raft had to take multiple trips to safely bring the 14 people on board.

Icon of the Seas, operated by cruise company Royal Caribbean, can house 5,610 guests and 2,350 staff.

The whopping ship has seven swimming pools, 2,800 guest cabins and 20 decks.
