00:00 President Bongbong Marcos promised that the Philippines will protest against China's new invasion of the United States.
00:10 But according to the President, this is not enough reason to use the Mutual Defense Treaty in America.
00:17 From Melbourne, Australia, we have a live report from Ian Cruz. Ian?
00:26 The President promised that the Philippines will not let the collision between the Philippine ships and China near Ayunginshol in West Philippine Sea.
00:37 The President also called for the entry of the research vessel in the Benham Rise in the Philippine Sea.
00:49 In a recorded video here in Melbourne, President Bongbong Marcos promised that the Philippines will protest against the collision between the Philippine and Chinese Coast Guard vessels near Ayunginshol in West Philippine Sea.
01:02 He also said that the Philippine ships were damaged and injured.
01:07 But the bad thing that happened in the resupply mission is that it cannot be a reason for the country to use the Mutual Defense Treaty in America.
01:15 I do not think that it is the time or the reason to invoke the Mutual Defense Treaty.
01:23 However, we continue to view with great alarm this continuing dangerous maneuvers and dangerous actions that are being done against our seamen, our Coast Guard.
01:37 And this time they damaged the cargo ship and caused some injury to some of our seamen.
01:50 And I think that we cannot view this in any way but in the most serious way.
01:58 He also mentioned the Chinese entry of the Umanoy in the Philippine Rise or Benham Rise where some Chinese research vessels were seen.
02:07 The President also did not like this.
02:09 This is a clear intrusion into Philippine maritime territory.
02:13 And this matter as usual of great concern.
02:18 There is a suspicion that they are not only research vessels.
02:21 So again, this is a bit of an escalation of the tension that is present in the West Philippine Sea.
02:33 On the last day of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne,
02:36 Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that Australia is ready to help ASEAN.
02:42 Our understanding that more than any other part of the world, Southeast Asia is where Australia's destiny lies.
02:50 This is why we will continue to support your ASEAN outlook on the Indo-Pacific and ensure the stability and peace of our region.
02:59 Marcos thanked Australia for its constant support of the rule of law in UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Award in favour of the Philippines.
03:08 Marcos also mentioned the adverse effects of climate change on the poor country, particularly the Philippines.
03:14 The President urged that there should be a strong action in the domestic and international fora to achieve climate justice.
03:22 At the Government House, President Marcos and other leaders held the occasion of holding two koala bears, native animals here in Australia.
03:37 Well, the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne has just ended.
03:44 In their joint statement, they promised to help maintain the peace and stability of our region.
03:52 ASEAN also respects the integrity of the territory and sovereignty.
03:59 But China said that the statement of ASEAN and Australia is stable after their special summit.
04:09 But they say that the situation in the South China Sea is stable.
04:14 That's the latest from Melbourne, Australia for GMA Integrated News.
04:19 Ian Cruz, 24 Hours.
04:21 Thank you very much, Ian Cruz.
