00:00 The lawyer of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy called it a "persecution"
00:05 or "prosecution" by the government to the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
00:09 That was said by Attorney Ferdinand Topalcio
00:11 after the Senate Committee on Women and Children condemned Quiboloy.
00:16 Quiboloy did not respond to the request of the court of appeal
00:20 for the abuse of the members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ
00:24 even though he was already subpoenaed.
00:26 In the letter that was first sent by Quiboloy's colleague,
00:30 they denied their client's right to force him to face the Senate Committee
00:35 that he has already declared guilty.
00:37 Senator Robin Hood also objected to Quiboloy's contempt order.
00:42 Under the Rules of Procedure,
00:44 the majority vote of the committee is required to overturn the order.
00:49 If we allow witnesses of the Senate to simply claim
00:55 that appearing before a committee would violate his or her constitutional right
01:00 to be presumed innocent and his or her right against self-incrimination,
01:04 our Senate has no power to launch investigations.
01:09 These excuses are not acceptable.
