00:08 Good morning friends, I am Rita
00:11 back again with another video on parenting
00:13 in today's topic I am going to share with you how
00:16 you can use praise to build self-esteem of your child
00:20 in our life we must have come across people who praise us by saying
00:24 oh you have cooked the dish very lovely today
00:27 or you are looking very pretty today
00:29 but have we really accepted these comments smilingly
00:34 at times we have doubted the opposite person's comments
00:38 why because somewhere at the back of our mind
00:41 we thought that they are evaluating us and terming this phrase as an
00:45 evaluative phrase but do you think this will help in building the child's
00:50 self-esteem when we tell the child oh you have made the painting very nice
00:54 or you are you are looking good today I think the child may not
00:59 like it because the child might think that you're
01:01 evaluating the child but if you tell the child oh you have
01:06 painted the picture very nicely these yellow balloons are looking so pretty
01:10 these red hearts are looking very nice the shade what you put in the painting
01:15 is looking really nice so when you will describe what you have seen in the
01:19 drawing the child will form an internal
01:21 conclusion about himself that he is good at this work and he can
01:25 do it much better this will help in building the child's
01:29 self-esteem suppose you've entered your child's room
01:32 and he has put the books in the proper place the toys are in the toy box
01:36 when you walk into the room you can describe by saying oh I see the books
01:40 have been kept in the right places the toys are stacked up properly
01:44 and it's a pleasure to walk into your room that's what I call
01:47 organizing so the child will feel oh I am capable of
01:52 keeping my room clean neat and tidy my mom or my dad can trust upon me
01:57 this will help in building the child's self-esteem
02:01 these might look very very small things but they play a very big
02:05 role in building the child's self-esteem descriptive phrases they take time and
02:12 you have to work upon them but the results are very very good
02:16 and very effective so I'd like to sum it up in three points
02:20 first describe what you see describe how you feel and third
02:26 you can give this thing a name if you have liked this video
