00:03 last couple of years, Jordan Spieth has won three majors and is seemingly always in contention

00:09 at the Masters. However, despite his high profile, there are lots of things that people

00:13 don't know about him. With that in mind, here are 10 facts on the American golfer.

00:18 As a youngster, things may have been totally different for Spieth in his career. This is

00:22 because his initial sport of choice was baseball, but at the age of 13 he decided he needed

00:26 to focus solely on his golf if he were to reach his full potential. He described that

00:30 moment as the hardest day of his life. Spieth comes from a long line of athletes in the

00:34 family. His mum and brother played basketball at college, while his dad was a baseball player.

00:39 Jordan, though, is the only golfer in his family. As a child, he was known to cut the

00:43 lawn at home as low as possible just so he could practice his game. Additionally, at

00:47 the age of 14, he predicted he would win the Masters while being interviewed on local news

00:51 in Dallas. In 2015, he achieved that prediction, winning the Masters and tying Tiger Woods'

00:57 270 shot total in 1997. He became the second youngest man in history to win a green jacket

01:03 after Woods, and also in 2015 at the age of 21, he became the youngest man to win the

01:08 US Open since Bobby Jones in 1923.

01:12 Spieth was born and raised and still lives in Dallas, Texas. In fact, in 2016, he actually

01:17 bought fellow American Hunter Mahan's house. It includes a 12-car underground garage, an

01:23 indoor basketball court, a swimming pool, a golf simulator, and even a wine cellar.

01:28 Spieth's caddy is Michael Grella, and they've been working together since 2011. Before the

01:32 partnership, Grella was actually a full-time teacher, but they have gone on to become one

01:35 of the most successful partnerships on tour. Spieth got engaged with childhood sweetheart

01:39 Annie Verrett on Christmas Eve in 2017. The pair went to high school together and tied

01:45 the knot in 2018. They've now also welcomed their first child, Sammy, into the world at

01:51 Spieth is signed with Under Armour and has a contract with the company until 2025. He's

01:55 the company's poster athlete for golf, and he also has an equipment deal with Titleist.
