00:11 The 100 pesos minimum wage hike is not yet a part of the law.

00:19 It has already played a big role in the third reading of the Senate.

00:24 If the House passes the bill and the President passes it as a law, the minimum wage in Metro Manila will reach more than 700 pesos for those working in the non-agricultural sector.

00:37 It will also increase in other regions and sectors.

00:39 It will be able to send more to the family.

00:47 That is why the Federation of Free Workers is asking lawmakers to pass the law quickly.

01:06 But the Labor Department and the group of employers are worried that all companies may not be able to pay the additional minimum wage.

01:35 It's hard to get 100 pesos. It depends on the volume of people.

01:43 According to the Department of Labor and Employment, some businesses may get exemptions in paying the wage hike.

01:49 These include businesses that have less than 10 pesos or businesses that have a capital of 3 million pesos or less.

01:58 The owner of this restaurant is willing to raise the price to pay the additional wage.

02:04 If that's the law, we will follow it. But we will be forced to pay the additional wage.

02:15 According to an economist, the wage price spiral may result in the additional wage hike.

02:22 If you raise the wage, that is going to be added production cost for firms.

02:28 They charge higher price which will eventually be passed on to consumers.

02:33 So inflation will be added and the wage increase will be a new round.

02:38 It's like a chain reaction. That's why the dollar is always looking for balance.

02:49 Eight vehicles were hit in Anaheim Street, Barangay Veterans Village, Quezon City during the clearing operations of the MMDA.

04:36 According to the DepEd, this is part of the transition to gradually bring back the school opening in June.

05:10 May 31, 2024 will be the last day of the class in public elementary and high school.

05:17 It is earlier by two weeks compared to the end of 2023.

05:22 We adjusted the current school calendar so we will now be ending by May 31.

05:28 That is our last day of the school calendar for this school year.

05:32 After that, the school break will start from June 1 until July 28.

05:38 Because our first day of classes would be July 29, 2024.

05:43 This is for the next school year.

05:45 Because of this adjustment, the number of school days for the children in the school year 2023 to 2024 was reduced by 7.

05:53 Actually, when we counted, we still have 179 school days this year.

05:59 So, it is not that bad that we lost.

06:01 There are two reasons why the vacation is to be brought back in March.

06:05 First, the children will not be able to concentrate in the hot school in the heat of summer.

06:12 Second, the schools will have to operate in the heat because of the electricity and water cost.

06:19 Based on the consultation of DepEd,

06:23 the school year 2024 to 2025, the vacation is already May 16.

06:28 In 2026, the vacation is already April.

06:32 Until March, the vacation is already back in 2027.

06:36 Private elementary and high school are free to change their school calendar.

06:43 Our private schools have a leeway to follow us or have their own opening of classes or dates for opening of classes and end of school year.
