00:15 The call to return to the past March, the vacation of the children, and June, the back to school,

00:24 is a strong call heard by the deaf ed and the deaf education.

00:28 Because this is what people really want, we decided that we should go back,

00:31 but we have to do it gradually so that it will not affect us.

00:35 We are really in learning recovery mode now.

00:38 In the department order issued by the deaf ed yesterday,

00:41 May 31, 2024 will be the last day of classes in public elementary and high school.

00:48 It is earlier by two weeks compared to the end of 2023.

00:53 We adjusted the current school calendar so we will now be ending by May 31.

00:59 That is our last day of the school calendar for this school year.

01:03 After that, the school break will start from June 1 until July 28.

01:09 Because our first day of classes would be July 29, 2024.

01:14 This is for the next school year.

01:16 Because of this adjustment, the number of school days for the children reduced from 7 to 24.

01:24 Actually, when we counted, we still have 179 school days this year.

01:30 So it is not that severe.

01:32 There are two reasons why the vacation is to be returned to March.

01:36 First, the children cannot concentrate in the hot school in the heat of summer.

01:43 Second, the schools will have to operate in the heat because of electricity and water cost.

01:50 Based on the consultation of the deaf ed,

01:54 in the school year 2024-25, the vacation is already May 16.

01:59 In 2026, the vacation is already April.

02:03 Until March, the vacation is already back to 2027.

02:07 The private elementary and high school are free to change their school calendar.

02:14 Our private schools have leeway to follow us or have their own opening of classes or dates for opening of classes and end of school year.
