Chinese astrology, also known as Ba-Zi or ‘eight characters’ and ‘four pillars,’ is an ancient practice, but how does it work?

‘The practice has deep roots and the knowledge has been passed down through generations,’ Master Chue Kay explains.

Furthermore, in Chinese astrology, the five-element theory—wood, fire, water, metal, and earth—is integral, akin to its application in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.

The cycle of the five elements serves as a method of interpreting nature's language.

00:03 In our Chinese astrology, we have four pillars
00:13 based on the chart is set the moment we
00:16 take our first breath.
00:17 And that's the time.
00:19 And from that, we calculate out the full chart.
00:22 We are 10 stems, are the 10 planets that we're working with.
00:28 And the 12 branches are the 12 months of the year.
00:32 It differs in that our months are not aligned
00:35 with the Western calendar.
00:37 So we use something called the Chinese 10,000-year calendar,
00:43 which will tell us when the new month begins,
00:45 when the new year begins.

00:53 We follow energy.
01:09 And man naturally follows energy.
01:13 So the energy of the dragon is that of leadership.
01:18 He is just like--
01:20 he's a very unassuming leader.
01:24 He's not bold and brash and throwing his weight about,
01:28 as he could do.
01:29 But he's a very diplomatic leader.
