MWSS assures enough water supply despite drop in water level at Angat Dam.  A person can be killed reporting, says a Gaza journalist

00:04 The water level in Angat Dam continues to drop due to the lack of rainwater.

00:09 Angat Dam is the main source of water of Metro Manila.

00:12 According to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System or MWSS, at past 8 AM on Tuesday,

00:19 the water level in Angat Dam dipped to 208.80 meters.

00:24 Some 12 centimeters or 5 inches lower than the 208.92 meters recorded on Monday.

00:30 MWSS Department Manager Patrick James Dizon said, "About 17 centimeters per day on average

00:36 is lost from the water in Angat Dam."

00:38 However, Dizon assured that there is enough water supply this coming summer.

00:52 Journalists in Gaza say the high death toll makes every report they do vital.

00:58 But as more die among their ranks and the war expands, their ability to deliver the

01:08 Many journalists inside Gaza now live here in Rafah, near the border with Egypt, where

01:13 the population has grown more than five times since the war began in October.

01:19 And Gaza residents continue to flee to Rafah as Israeli armed forces move south.

01:26 Journalists working here say every story could be their last.

01:30 But then again, so could every trip to the market to find food or fuel, to a hospital

01:36 to search for missing, injured or dead loved ones, or even to bed every night.

01:42 "The situation in Gaza is very difficult and covering Gaza is very difficult.

01:48 A person can be killed by reporting any news or images for broadcast."

01:54 Depending on who is counting, the number of journalists killed in more than four months

01:59 of war between Israel and Hamas varies.

02:03 But all accounts show that the death toll for journalists is higher than in any other

02:08 war in recent history.

02:11 The Committee to Protect Journalists reports 85 deaths, while the United Nations says 122.

02:18 Journalists inside Gaza say the number has risen to 130 since the last time anyone published

02:25 an account.

02:27 Murtaza says the increasing difficulty of reporting from Gaza has made every bit of

02:32 information they can publish more crucial to the world's understanding of the war from

02:38 the point of view of the people in Gaza.

02:42 "By restricting journalists and reducing their mental strength, they can stop journalists

02:50 from delivering the news professionally.

02:51 But when they kill a journalist, it also increases our determination to continuously deliver

02:58 the story and the truth."

03:00 The Israeli government has banned the international press from entering Gaza.

03:05 And in December, the Foreign Press Association in Jerusalem petitioned the Israeli Supreme

03:10 Court for access beyond tightly controlled military tours.

03:15 The court denied the petition, saying it would cause an undue burden on the Israeli defense

03:20 forces.

03:22 Inside Gaza, reporters say their ability to deliver the news is rapidly diminishing.

03:27 "It's a war from all directions on journalists and on the whole community.

03:34 The Israeli occupation frequently cuts communications as part of their assault, reducing our capacity

03:40 to get information from the restricted locations that we were forced to flee from in the north."

03:45 The Israeli government has said repeatedly that it does not target journalists or other

03:49 civilians, a claim international rights groups and Palestinian journalists dispute.
