00:00 Hello there, welcome to your latest week ahead forecast. It's been a sunny start to the week
00:04 but it will turn a bit wetter for the rest of the week but much milder. That's as this
00:09 mild Atlantic air approaches through the course of the night and we will be staying with that
00:13 mild Atlantic air through the rest of the week across much of the country. The far north
00:17 will be in that cooler air from time to time having said that though. There'll also be
00:21 a series of low pressure systems that arrive with this mild air so that will bring some
00:26 further rain through the rest of the week. However, there will be some windows of opportunity
00:31 to get out and about in some dry weather here and there so it's worth taking a look at the
00:35 details day to day. So through the course of Monday night we see that mild air arriving
00:39 from the southwest bringing with it some frontal systems as well so there'll be some rain arriving
00:44 into the southwest. Ahead of it though we've still got this blue colour, this colder air
00:48 so it will be a chilly start once again for many northern and eastern areas of the UK
00:53 but we'll see the best of any sunshine through the morning across eastern areas and then
00:57 across Scotland later on in the afternoon. Elsewhere though it will turn much cloudier
01:02 and wetter from the south and west. Many areas seeing some quite persistent rain by the time
01:06 we get to the afternoon. The rain will be heaviest across parts of Wales as well as
01:11 the coastal areas and the hills as well through the afternoon but that is being brought by
01:15 the milder air so highs of 11 or 12 degrees in the south, a little bit lower in the north
01:20 where we have got that drier and brighter weather. And then through the course of Tuesday
01:25 night into Wednesday that frontal system does push off into the east however we do then
01:30 see these occluded fronts. One drapes itself across Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland
01:34 and the other moves into southern areas of England and Wales. So that's where we'll see
01:38 the most persistent rain throughout Wednesday. In between those areas we'll see some rain
01:42 particularly through the morning. Into the afternoon though it will turn drier for many
01:45 areas but still across coastal areas and the hills in central areas of England and Wales
01:50 it will still be quite drizzly. In the far north though once again the best of any sunshine
01:55 and drier weather across the UK. Highs of 14 degrees possibly even 15 degrees on Wednesday
02:01 though despite the rain and clouds. It will be feeling very mild for the time of year
02:06 by day but also by night we should be largely frost free for many areas of England and Wales
02:12 throughout the course of the week. And then Thursday is when I think we'll see the wettest
02:16 weather of the week as this frontal system pushes up from the south. There is some uncertainty
02:21 in the exact details of when the rain will arrive and how far north it will spread but
02:25 we're expecting quite widespread rain throughout Thursday. By the time we've got to Thursday
02:30 the rain isn't particularly welcome if you're getting outside but also the ground is well
02:34 saturated so it could start to cause some flooding issues particularly across southern
02:38 areas of England and Wales. As I said there is some uncertainty with quite how far north
02:44 the rain will reach but it's likely to reach there by at least the afternoon. But it will
02:50 be another mild day with highs of 14 or 15 degrees, that's a few degrees above average
02:55 for the time of year but sunshine will still be fairly limited through much of the week.
03:00 However there is a better chance of seeing some sunshine on Friday as we get this ridge
03:04 of high pressure move in for a time as we're between weather systems. This is the weather
03:09 system from Thursday and we have this weather system that will approach by the end of Friday
03:13 but in between these two a little opportunity for some drier and brighter weather. There
03:19 will be quite a lot of cloud around still, some drizzly rain for some areas but I think
03:23 particularly for eastern areas we could see some sunshine particularly lasting through
03:28 much of the day and many areas we'll see a dry day. However that frontal system will
03:31 probably bring some wetter weather into Northern Ireland, perhaps into the south west by the
03:35 end of the day. So some details still to be ironed out before the end of the week but
03:41 into the weekend we're likely to see pressure slowly but surely starting to build from the
03:46 south and we'll stick with that milder weather so a greater chance of seeing some dry interludes
03:51 into the weekend. But it's worth keeping up to date with the details in the forecast day
03:55 to day and you can do that by downloading our app. See you later.
