01:48 Thank you. Thank you so much.
01:50 We now pass on the stage to the members of Prashant Atbhaith Foundation to please take the session forward. Thank you so much.
01:57 Good afternoon and Jai Hind sir. I am Rhea Tiwari, a student of Delhi University.
02:05 And my question to you is sir, that people define success by different terms like influence, happiness, fame or name, fame etc.
02:14 So sir, when did you start considering yourself success?
02:18 First of all, thanks for inviting me here.
02:29 I don't consider myself a success even today.
02:35 So your question is founded on an assumption.
02:40 When in the past did you start considering yourself a success?
02:45 You are assuming that at some point I did or currently I do. No, I don't.
02:52 I don't think there is any end point called success.
03:01 As long as one is alive, there is more and more to be done continuously.
03:12 One can declare herself successful only if the target is too small, too limited.
03:24 And then you can get close to the target or win it and say that you are successful.
03:36 But that kind of declaration means nothing.
03:40 One is then just fooling, pampering himself.
03:45 It does not mean much.
03:48 There can be milestones along the way.
03:52 As you move, you can probably see that you are going past a few important points.
04:06 And even those points are important only relatively.
04:11 Relative to where you currently stand, you might find that a few milestones mean much to you.
04:23 But in the overall sense, in the absolute perspective, hardly anything that you have gone past makes much significance or holds too much of a meaning.
04:47 So one has to continuously keep moving this notion of becoming successful.
04:57 This idea that by reaching a particular point or by having a certain accomplishment,
05:06 one can declare himself as successful is not very mature and is also dangerous because it limits you.
05:20 It tells you that there are certain things to be had and more or less those things are universal, right?
05:31 You want to have an educational degree, you want to have a job, you want to have money,
05:36 you want to have a settled kind of life and you want to be regarded highly in the society.
05:44 And if you have all these things, then you start calling yourself successful.
05:50 This is a limiting, rather debilitating idea.
05:57 It will not allow you to move beyond these things that we just listed.
06:06 And even among these things, you know, what is it that counts in the common idea of success?
06:15 Money. Because if you have money, prestige can be bought.
06:20 If you have money, much under the sun can be bought.
06:28 So primarily the idea of success as it is prevalent in the youth today
06:34 and it's being aggressively sold in the market is about having money.
06:39 If you have enough money, you can call yourself successful.
06:43 No, that is not a valid idea, right?
06:50 Because you have to look at yourself and ask yourself, who am I?
06:56 Why am I born? Why do I exist at all?
07:00 Is there complete fulfillment?
07:04 Isn't there more that needs to be done?
07:08 Isn't the fire still burning?
07:12 There are frontiers after frontiers.
07:15 There are skies beyond skies.
07:18 How can you stop at some place and just abruptly, randomly, arbitrarily call yourself successful?
07:32 What I have seen from my little experience and when I look at my peers and my batchmates
07:44 is that the moment you call yourself successful, you start stagnating.
07:49 Because success is like a destination, no?
07:55 The idea that we have been sold is that you move to attain success.
08:04 Extend it logically, then it means that success is the end of all movement.
08:12 If one moves, that is, if one works to attain success, if that is the idea,
08:18 then success will be the end of all movement, right?
08:23 The destination.
08:25 And if you reach the destination, then what are you still traveling for?
08:33 If the train has reached its destination, you are supposed to deboard, aren't you?
08:39 And if you don't get down on your own, you are thrown out.
08:43 That's the meaning of success. Deboard. Finished. Game up.
08:48 Why do you want to finish the game so early, too early?
08:55 Life is anyway short.
08:58 Life is anyway short. You can never have too much of it.
09:03 And on top of it, you want to end it inwardly at the age of 30, 35 or 40.
09:11 That doesn't make sense, right?
09:15 So Vedanta says, charai veti, charai veti.
09:18 Continuously keep moving. Don't fool yourself by declaring yourself as arrived.
09:24 Don't tell yourself that you have reached any important position.
09:29 Don't inflate yourself.
09:32 Don't become a big one or a successful one in your own eyes.
09:39 Retain that humility and don't douse the fire.
09:46 Right? Because that's the fact.
09:50 Nobody is yet fully liberated as long as he or she is alive.
09:57 Which means that the mission still remains unfulfilled.
10:04 If you are still breathing, then the mission remains on.
10:13 Till your last breath, you are somebody who must keep working, walking, moving.
10:24 So, first thing I would advise, know what is it in life that you must keep striving for, working towards.
10:38 And then endlessly work in that direction.
10:42 Let there be a direction but never a destination.
10:47 Right?
10:49 So you know the broad direction in which you have to move.
10:53 And the movement has to be immense, endless, infinite.
10:59 One moves in the direction of liberation without ever arriving.
11:07 That's something that does not quite please the ego because the ego likes to arrive.
11:12 It likes to settle matters.
11:15 It's like to say, "The end".
11:18 The matter stands concluded.
11:22 Don't fall in that trap.
11:24 Thank you, sir.
