00:00 Aside from the West Philippine Sea, the Defense Department is also targeting additional soldiers and infrastructure in the most remote areas of the country.

00:10 That is the closest to Taiwan where China's counterfeit goods are located.

00:15 And Chino Gaston was targeted.

00:20 The Defense Secretary and AFP Chief of Staff personally visited the soldiers guarding Mabulis Island in Batanes, the most remote area of the Philippines.

00:30 They also visited the facilities of Northern Luzon Cuman, which is already a naval facility in Batan, Batanes.

00:37 According to the secret, additional soldiers and infrastructure in North Luzon, which is considered as the spearhead of the country's north baselines, should be added.

00:49 Batanes is also the closest part of the Philippines to Taiwan where the tension is high due to China's counterfeit goods.

00:57 The basic purpose was to assess the territorial defense capabilities and our fortifications there.

01:04 The position of Mabulis is like the northernmost part of there and it is identified as an essential territorial defense area.

01:13 Aside from that, the military's strength in defending the West Philippine Sea was also emphasized.

01:19 AFP confirmed that China is not interfering in the latest rotation and resupply missions in Ayungin.

01:26 But former Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio was not convinced that China is already being kind.

01:33 This is the only time we should look at it from a longer perspective before we can say that it is a pattern.

01:43 We don't see a pattern right now because it's just one incident.

01:47 It's possible that China doesn't want the incident to be broadcasted or to be shown to the entire world, that they are ashamed to be depicted in media using water cannon or laser beams.

02:10 Carpio also said that China is already involved in the issue of the territorial theft through voluntary arbitration in the International Court of Justice.

02:20 China previously said that it is not in line with the 2016 arbitral ruling that the Philippines' exclusive economic zone is not allowed to have a visa.

02:31 China repeatedly insisted that it should discuss the bilateral talks where only the Philippines and China will discuss and establish an agreement that no other country is involved.
