00:13 - No, it's funny you say that

00:14 because I'm actually making a movie about that.

00:16 - Really?

00:17 - Yeah, do you wanna act in it?

00:18 - Sure.

00:19 - Okay.

00:20 - Hi, my name's Leah Everett.

00:21 I'm the writer and director of "21".

00:23 - And I'm Kylie Ballantyne

00:24 and I play the lead character, Sasha.

00:26 "21" is a short comedy film

00:28 about Sasha's 21st birthday

00:30 and how she wants to go buy alcohol

00:31 because that's what you do when you turn 21,

00:33 but she runs into some issues trying to get it

00:35 and she has to come to terms with the expectations

00:38 that she set for herself at 21.

00:40 I wrote this film because I think a lot of us

00:42 spend a lot of time thinking about

00:43 where we'll be in the future

00:44 and sometimes we set these expectations

00:47 that are so high for ourselves

00:48 that if we don't meet them one day,

00:50 then we feel like we completely failed

00:52 or we're disappointing a younger version of ourselves.

00:55 - It's about the expectations you put on yourself

00:57 and how it's not such a bad thing

00:58 if one day you look around

01:00 and things are much different than you thought they'd be.

01:02 - It takes a lot of time, effort, and money to make a film

01:05 and we are seriously so close to finishing this project.

01:08 We have our last production day,

01:10 our reshoot day this weekend.

01:11 We have post-production costs.

01:12 We have festival submission fees.
