Wales headlines 31 January: Hope for future investment at Port Talbot

The Welsh Rugby Union have said that adding the 6 nations to a protected list of free to air sporting events would devastate rugby in Wales - saying it would restrict money for the sport. The Senedd voted in favour of adding the competition to the list to make sure the Welsh public can easily access it.

TATA steel have said that they are open to more investment in their Port Talbot plant in the future, provided there is additional government funding. The site has been set to lose up to 2800 jobs, but TATA’s chief executive said that the current plans need not be the end - but be the beginning.

The Principality Stadium is set to host the 2025 investec Champions Cup, the premier European club rugby competition. Cardiff fought off competition from over 20 other cities around the continent, and will now host the competition for the first time 2014. It’ll be the 30th edition since the first final which was also hosted by Cardiff.
