West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she would not allow anyone to take away the citizenship of people till she is alive, reported PTI. The CM made the comments while speaking at a public distribution programme at Raiganj in Uttar Dinajpur district. She alleged that the BJP opportunistically raised the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA just before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, reported PTI. Banerjee’s remarks came after Union Minister Shantanu Thakur said that CAA would be rolled out across the country within a week. Reacting to Banerjee’s comments, BJP leader Rahul Sinha told PTI, “CAA is a law of the land and no one can stop it from being implemented.” Watch the video to know more.
