"When You Walked Out Someone Else Walked Right In"

Irving Berlin song

Joseph Samuels' Dance Orchestra was led by the mysterious Joseph Samuel.

Dates of his birth and death are unknown though there is some evidence Samuels died in July 1953.

An article published in May 1919 indicates he was born in Tennessee, studied under Campanari at the College of Music of Cincinnati, and was concert master for Henry W. Savage.

He was mainly a reed player (clarinet, alto saxophone, and bass saxophone)

He also played violin and made records as a soloist on the latter instrument accompanied by pianist Frank Banta.

He was very active in recording studios from 1919 to 1925.

LYRICS TO THIS SONG:

My honey, do you remember 'twas a December day?
I said that you would repent the day that you went away
You turned as red as a ruby, much too good to be true
You thought I'd sit around lonely thinking of only you
Little you knew that

When you walked out, someone else walked right in.
Someone with good news stepped right in your shoes.
Somebody else took your place on my knee.
Another sweetie in clover fussin' all over me.

I saw that you grew so cold, love, so what could I do?
Off with the old love and on with the new.
When you walked out, honey, I just had to grin.
You left the door wide open, and somebody else walked in.
